Founded in 1986, NYACS is a private, not-for-profit trade association dedicated to unifying, serving, and representing the convenience store industry of New York State.
Our retail membership consists of 130 companies that operate convenience stores, ranging in size from one store to over 300. Collectively, our retail members operate more than 1,600 store locations from Hamburg, Erie County, to Hoosick Falls near the Vermont border to Hempstead, Long Island that serve nearly 1.3 million customers per day.
Most major convenience store chains in the state are NYACS membesr. Yet many of our member retail companies are single-store operators. The mom-and-pop store remains the heart and soul of our membership.
We also have about 150 associate members - companies that supply products and services that convenience stores sell or use.
NYACS is governed by a Board of Directors of 25 leading retailers. We also have an advisory board of supplier ("associate") members. Retailers and suppliers work side by side on committees and projects. The team spirit and mutual respect engendered by this partnership has been a key to NYACS' success over the years.
Organized under Chapter 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, we are not a division or chapter of any national organization, but we do work closely with the National Association of Convenience Stores as well as other statewide organizations serving food stores, petroleum marketers, and small businesses.
Our office is now in downtown Albany, two blocks from the State Capitol, strengthening our advocacy on behalf of the convenience store industry. We have a staff of two, eager to serve the ever-changing needs of our dynamic membership.
The good news for convenience store owners is that adding EV charging is not nearly as involved as incorporating fossil fueling. While there is an initial investment in the stations and installation, it is considerably less in both time and money, and with oodles of grants and incentives, there are a lot of dollars available to help cover these initial costs.

Members of our facilities management team represented Ciminelli this past week at the New York Association of Convenience Stores' "Re-Fresh" tradeshow and convention held in Syracuse, NY. Our team was excited to be back in-person this year to meet up with some of our current clients, make new connections, and learn more about the latest convenience retailer trends.

Had several engaging meetings this week in Albany in between session and committee meetings. I met with the Alliance For Clean Energy New York, New York Association of Convenience Stores - NYACS, and joined my colleagues in meeting with St. Lawrence County officials to discuss .
As part of the response, the entire agricultural community and food industries are working around the clock, and thanks to their efforts, there is plenty of food being produced and brought to stores every day. If you see empty shelves or low inventory at your store, know that this is because of increased demand or overbuying, not a lack of food. Please only buy what you need so there is enough for everyone. Farmers, the ag industry, and grocery stores are all working hard to keep shelves stocked.
