If you've already placed the cigar in your mouth, don't use the community cutter. Grab your personal cutter instead.

At BILLOWS CIGAR HAVEN, we love the camaraderie that comes with cigar culture. Sharing conversation, knowledge, and even the occasional special cigar with a friend is part of what makes this community great.

That band looks good — but don’t rush to take it off.

When you first light your cigar, the band may still be firmly attached to the wrapper. Trying to peel or force it off too soon can tear the delicate wrapper leaf and potentially affect your smoke.

🔥 Give it a little time.

As the cigar warms, the heat can help loosen the adhesive holding the band in place. If you choose to remove it, wait until it moves easily — then gently slide it off.

And remember: you don't have to remove the band at all. Keeping it on or taking it off is largely personal preference.

The lesson is simple:

Ever notice one side of your cigar burning faster than the other? That uneven burn is often called canoeing — and if you catch it early, you can usually correct it.

First, give the cigar a moment to self-correct. Rotate it and pay attention to the burn line.

If it keeps running, use your lighter to gently touch up the slower-burning side. You’re correcting the burn — not relighting the entire cigar.

🔥 A little heat. A little patience. No need to torch it.

An uneven burn can affect how your cigar develops, so keep an eye on that burn line while you enjoy your smoke.

Remember:

💨 An Even Burn Makes a Better Smoke.

You picked the cigar. You made the cut. Now don’t ruin the experience with the light.

When lighting a premium cigar, the goal isn’t to blast the foot with a torch. Toast it.

🔥 Hold the flame just below the foot — without burying the cigar in it.
💨 Slowly rotate the cigar to warm the to***co evenly.
🔥 Once the foot begins to glow, take a few gentle draws while continuing to rotate.

Why does it matter?

An even light helps create an even burn, while overheating the to***co can affect the flavors you were supposed to enjoy.

Remember: the torch is the tool — not the technique.

Take your time.

A cigar lounge is a place to relax, connect, and enjoy the experience — but even in a room built for smoke, a little courtesy goes a long way.

When you exhale, be aware of the people around you. Avoid blowing smoke directly toward another guest or across someone's personal space.

💨 Enjoy your smoke. Respect their space.

Good cigar etiquette isn't about being stiff or overly formal. It's about making sure everybody in the lounge can enjoy their experience.

The best cigar smokers don't just know their ci**rs — they know how to carry themselves in the lounge. 🥃🔥
