Ah yes, after having my beloved Chamango Slushie from Oasis Coffee, I feel like I can take on the world! Or at least just take on my own day for now.

Just tossing this out there but if you haven't tried this yummy goodness right here, you are missing out! Oasis Coffee has released their summer menu and everything on it is a must try!

Oasis Coffee is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Ajo. Check out their page for new items and updates.

As mentioned now that I have my energy restored let's proceed shall we. Although it hasn't been insanely busy it still has been pretty steady. I didn't realize some schools are still finishing up their school year. Now we do not have any major events until Fourth of July but like I say traffic is still steady.

At this moment both 85 and 86 are clear of any incidents, cattle, and/or donkeys. The POE is looking fabulous! Absolutely no wait times. Wednesdays are always a good day for traveling.

Quick reminder which I will be constantly mentioning. WE ARE DEFINITELY PET FRIENDLY! If I see you outside with your pup standing by our door I will come outside and let you know you can bring them inside. It is waaaaay too hot to keep them outside! Let them come in with you and cool off. (courtesy water bowl by door)

Okay kids! Be sure to stay cool and extra hydrated out there. Arizona is only in preheat mode but it is still toasty. Later gators! 😁

We only need 32 more wonderful customers to help get these down to the rescue!

One bag per vehicle. Each bag is 50 # and is labeled and accounted for. We just jot down your name, bag number and date on both forms attached to each bag. Easy peasy!

This dog food is for Barb’s Dog Rescue only. We are the only ones in this area who work directly with the rescue to ensure each bag and/or donation is transported to its proper destination.

Allow me to clarify, we do not sell these bags of dog food, nor do we give it away, to anyone who has no intention of dropping it off to the rescue.

Let’s go folks! Help us get it down to the rescue!

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday comments. I'll reply as soon as I can!

Today has been pretty steady with traffic heading south. We've been thankful for those who've picked up a bag of dog food to transport down to Barb's Dog Rescue. There's plenty more that need to be taken down and dropped off. Keep in mind each bag is number and accounted for when it reaches the rescue.

There's nothing to report as far as traffic. The roads have been clear. I'll hop back on a little later but for now, later gator!

The same process will apply when taking the dog food to the rescue. We’ll get your name and jot it down on the form attached to each bag along with the bag number on it.

The start of a new dream...

In 1991 our founder, Sandy Rogers, decided to head southwest from Omaha, Ne. with her young teenage son and purchased a store in Why, Az. The name of the store was the Why-Not Travel Store. The store sold propane, gas, food, refreshments, and nik-naks that were mostly locally produced. In the parking lot was a hot grill in the shape of a bull that was used to cook hamburgers and other items.

Over the years, she increased the size of the store, affiliated the fuel products with Texaco, installed storage units, added a restaurant (much to the detriment of the bull!) and increased the products the store could offer. Of course, as with any business, there were good times and bad. In the good times she reinvested into the store and gave back to the community, and in bad times Sandy, who was of Pennsylvania Dutch stock (re: a strong work ethic), persevered. She hired locally and several of her hires still work for us.

Sadly in 2013, Sandy unexpectedly passed away. Today the store is owned by her two sons, Allen and Cortney Wonder, and although she is missed, her legacy continues. At the time of this writing, "The Why Not Travel Store" is undergoing some major remodeling. The Deli area was increased in size and now offers a large selection of products and refreshments, a new walk-in cooler and freezer were added to increase the size of our cold and frozen offerings. The restaurant was sublet and eventually sold off to Granny's Kitchen. New bathrooms were added and the store outside/inside appearances have been enhanced. Why Not stop by?
