Meet Mavrud - Bulgaria’s best-kept secret.

Around 800 AD, Bulgarian Khan Krum ordered every vineyard in the land uprooted and destroyed. When an escaped lion broke loose and terrorized the city, a young man faced the beast alone and struck it down.

The Khan demanded to know where such raw courage came from. The young man’s mother confessed: she had secretly kept a single vine hidden and gave him its dark w**e daily. Stunned by his bravery, the Khan spared them, ordered the vineyards replanted and named the grape after him.

Skin contact done right is undefeated. If you’re bored of safe, clean whites, these three have been stealing the show lately:

🇪🇸 Cooper Cellars Las Suertes: Crazy aromatic, like orange peel and flowers, but drinks completely crisp and bone-dry. Dangerously easy to polish off a bottle (or two).

🇮🇹 **es Jakot: The absolute benchmark. Deep amber, tons of dried fruit, herbs and serious texture that grips your palate like a light red. An absolute beast of a bottle.

🇦🇹 Semicolon: Wild, electric and razor-sharp. Yellow apples, minerality and incredible balance from one of the oldest estates on the planet.
