Mangkuk means bowl in malay. A bowl can be filled with anything tasty and imaginable, rice, noodles, aromatic rendang, juicy chicken cutlet, and more. Suri, the cook behind mangkuk, has been experimenting since the idea popped in her head during Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 and will be dishing up bowls and curry puffs this Saturday.

A homegrown brand born from the lively spirit of Singapore’s Ramadhan Bazaars, bringing the bold, rich flavours of halal Mexican street food to the heart of our community. Specialising in birria tacos, we craft each dish with passion, using high-quality ingredients to deliver you irresistible goodness.

Neil Tomes, the Liverpool-born chef behind Singapore’s beloved “The Piemonger,” blends classic British pastry techniques with local and Asian flavours—think rendang, laksa and ginger pork belly—crafting hearty, flaky pies that you will have seen at the taproom before!

Turning a minimart into a bottleshop! Here’s some of the progress pics from the journey 💪 🧹

Many of you will have seen or even been in our new extension next door where the minimart used to be… It’s taken us a little longer than we would have hoped for as we’ve all been super busy, but it’s just about there now.

We’ve got a massive selection of beers to complement those in the taproom, we have about 350 or so different beers at one point now! We’ve also got an ever changing selection of wine from small independent producers and a list of interesting craft spirits from around the world.

We just hosted our first wine tasting with Xavier Goodridge this week, but we plan to do a lot more of this instore in the future. So keep an eye out for special events, launches and more.

So if you are looking for some cans or bottles to enjoy at home, take to this afternoons BBQ or grab a liquid gift for someone - we’ve got you covered. It’s not just in-store though, we have a nifty new webshop where you can place orders online for delivery or collection.

Xavier Goodridge produces unique expressions of Pinot Noir from his organic vineyard in Gippsland’s Maffra and in partnership with growers from Yarra, Mount Gambier, and Henty. His Pa Pa range reflects a light-touch approach that allows the wines to speak of the land.

Xavier believes great wine begins in the vineyard. He uses spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast and avoids manipulation, raising wines in large-format oak to ensure gentle maturation.

We’ve been digging these wins for a while now, and if you’ve enjoyed our house red and whites you’ve probably tried a few of Xavier’s grapes before!

WE’RE HIRING! Exciting News, as you may have seen, we have opened our Bottleshop next to the Taproom recently. It’s a small space full of great drinks by small producers from across the globe! But we need some help...

We are looking for a manager to be the face of our new space. This involves managing the day-to-day operations, whilst up-keeping an exceptional customer experience and bringing craft beer, wines and spirits to life - no matter where drinkers are in their exploration journey. The manager will also be responsible for the day to day operations of the brand new webshop - gulpbeer.co

Fresh UK beers from Polly’s, Pomona Island, Left Handed Giant, Mash Gang and BEAK. These are some of the best breweries coming out of the UK right now so make sure to grab a couple for your fridge, or from ours.

A few notable selections:

The latest Blender bottles from LHG - Ammonites Barrel Aged Saison - Fermented with a blend of house Saison cultures, aged in French oak for 6 months then conditioned for 4 months on Rhubarb & Raspberry. For big stout lovers, Maelstrom - Blend of BA Imperial Stouts aged in Bourbon and Maple Syrup Barrels with Toasted Hazelnuts, Cinnamon and Vanilla.

The Pomona Island ‘If Only I Had’ range is a VERY small bottling of the same Russian Imperial Stout, divided up into different barrels. Jerez sherry, red wine, rum you name it! Only a handful of each bottle in SG.

Then some of our personal favourites - BEAK, from South England. Despite beautiful can art, what’s inside brings a tonne of punchy, fresh hop flavour.

Anddd… new non-alc beers brewed in the US from these are great little numbers for a hot afternoon.

What a cracking day, drinking dry every single keg that was flown in. Next day was not an enjoyable clean up 🧼 but that’s all part of the job!

EQUILIBRIUM EXCLUSIVES 🇺🇸 🍻 Beer balanced by science 🧪

When some chaps at MIT were studying how to make water safe in places where people rely on it most, they realised that this knowledge plus their love of craft beer was a powerful match.

They realised beer is essentially contractions of stuff in water. There you have it, they bought a load of gear for brewing experiments at home and sought to make the best beer in the world, through science.

In 2009, they went from kitchen to brewery, honing their techniques whilst picking up critical acclaim. Saturday release day would see queues around the block and they are now one of the top 5 regional breweries IN THE WORLD 🗺️

This Saturday until sold out, you can pick up their beers on tap and in packaged ONLY at GULP.

We’ve also got juicy, meaty burgers and dogs from to complete that stateside experience. 🇺🇸 Don’t worry, we’re leaving out the politics.

We’ve definitely had our fill of stouts for a few months and there were some very cool beers on offer from UK, USA, HK, Aus, Europe and more.

It was great to also meet some new faces and connect with old ones whilst have a good beer and chat!

CHRISTMAS BOTTLE SHARE 🎄🍾 this Sunday 4pm at the taproom

We’ve put the tree up, got Slade on, starting to feel a bit festive. No better time to open up the special stuff.

We’re inviting 15 people to join us in our Christmas bottle share where we will be cracking open a few bottles from our personal collection. Some magical stuff throughout the years.

Some ground rules:

- You must bring at least 2 beers that are not readily available in Singapore, something we will all be excited to try.

- We will try and make sure everyone gets to try a bit of the goodness, but this is a free, informal event so no getting upset.

- Message us to reserve your place, first come first served. If it’s already full we will start a waitlist and make a decision if we can accommodate more.
