Founded in 2010, the rising star Bodegas Dominio del Águila is forging a new path through its incredible cuvées from the famous Ribera del Duero region of Spain. The architect of its meteoric rise is owner and winemaker Jorge Monzón, a former apprentice of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Vega Sicilia. Known for their staggeringly rich, bold and uncompromising wines, Dominio del Águila offers an altogether more elegant, restrained and highly terroir-focused interpretation of the region and its varietals. The pinnacle of Dominio del Águila’s red winemaking, the Dominio del Águila Reserva is made from some of the oldest vines in the village of La Aguilera, many over 100 years old. On the nose, the 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 Á𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 ($̶𝟭̶𝟯̶𝟲̶ $𝟭𝟭𝟮) is beautiful, perfumed and floral. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with fine-boned and very fine and chalky tannins. Fresh with terrific balance, and a long finish with a touch of liquorice and violets.
