Producer Spotlight: Windows Estate

From planting each of the 12,000 vines by hand at just 19 years old to still handling all of the pruning & vineyard work, Chris Davies alongside his wife Jo are truly people of their land. Organic & biodynamic farming is core to their belief around being able to showcase the true capacity of their unique site in Yallingup, within the northern end of Margaret River. The resulting wines are masterful examples of what is possible through responsible farming, and a deft hand in the cellar.

Following the purchase of the former Pierre Naigeon domaine in 2019, Jean-Marie Chapier, & wife Isabelle, set about to creating a new estate–Domaine les Astrelles. Bringing in young gun Julien Millet to lead the winemaking, their focus across 14 hectares of vines is a series of nearly 40 terroir driven bottlings. Favouring infusion rather than extraction, they showcase what a gentle & well-reasoned hand in the cellar does.

Producer Spotlight: Bendito Destino

From the great dining rooms of the world to now nurturing century-old vines in Ribera del Duero, Terry Kandylis has made quite the journey. Breathing new life into forgotten parcels, Bendito Destino focuses upon revealing a rarely seen side of Ribera—one that favours gentle, perfumed and nuance expressions of terroir-driven wines. Production is tiny—some wines come from just a single barrel—making each bottle truly special.

Producer Spotlight: Champagne André Heucq

Founded in 1936, Champagne André Heucq is a fourth-gen, grower Champagne domaine located in Cuisles, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Specialisng in Meunier, André Heucq and his daughter, F***y, produce Champagne from vineyards sitting atop a rare layer of green illite, a crystalline-mineral clay rarely found in other parts of the region.
Believing that “Biodynamics is much more than just a viticultural practice, it’s a philosophy”, the vineyards have been farmed used biodynamic practices since the 1970s.
Not afraid of pushing the boundaries, you’ll find a variety of barrels, terracotta Œufs, sea-aged bottles & Georgian qvevri in the winery.

What an incredible response to this year’s 12 Clinks of Christmas! Thank you for the flurry of orders which have kept our team busy packing over the past few days. We’ve reached the grand finale, and we’re closing with the groundbreaking Place of Changing Winds.

Rob Walters has worked alongside some of the greatest domaines in France as an importer. Frequent visits to Burgundy led to a 3-year search for a truly unique parcel outside Macedon, an hour north of Melbourne. The vineyard is planted at astonishingly high densities, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for Australian Pinot Noir on the global stage.

The family estate has been championing the potential of Meunier since 1936. Now in its 4th generation, the certified organic estate works a variety of parcels in the Vallée de la Marne.
