Quinta do Noval in the heart of the Douro Valley is one of the classic Port wine producers.

We had a great tasting of their Extra Dry white port, the Late Bottled Vintage ruby Port and the 10 yo Tawny Port.

The Foz Tua Grande Reserva 2019 is a dark garnet, full bodied with balck berries, oak and spices. Ideal to be paired with a partdrige on the pot or a hare with mushrooms sauce.

Discovering different wineries and restaurants throughout Portugal's wine country is for me a pleasurable mission.

While preparing the new 2025 Portugal wine travel picks I visited Quinta da Alorna outside Almeirim in the Tejo wine region.

After visiting this historical estate producing a palette of different wine styles I enjoyed lunch at Cisco restaurant.

On Thursdays they offer Cozido à Portuguesa which I paired with the Tejo DOC Reserva das Pedras 2020 a single varietal Tinta Miúda red wine. Venha Vinho!

Quinta do Escudial is a Dão wine region family wine producer proud of its unoaked approach to wine.

Quinta do Escudial tinto 2020 is a traditional four grape blend of jaen, alfrocheiro, tinta roriz and touriga nacional.

Red fruits and a touch of spices create a medium bodied, balaced red with silky tannins perfect for a oven roasted duck rice.

A blend of traditional white grapes from Alentejo aged in french oak barrels.

An interesting wine well balanced providing an excellent pairing for a roasted veal cheek sided by turnip pickles and a turnip leaf purée at Ó Balcão restaurant. Venha Vinho!

Quinta das Bágeiras wine estate in Bairrada wine region is obe of the classic local producers promoting the Portuguese Baga red grape.

Quinta das Bágeiras Reserva tinto 2021 is a blend of Baga and Touriga Nacional not destemed aged in used oak barrels.

A fresh, vibrant yet well balanced red with nerve well paired with a oven roasted suckling pig directly from the oven to the plate.

Safado is one of the labels by Emanuel Frutuoso winemaker, a garage wine producer from Lisbon Wine Region in the Arruda dos Vinhos area.

Safado is an organic single varietal Tinta Roriz from old vines, aged in used oak barrels of 600 lts. for 14 months followed by a year of bottle aging.

A mouthful vibrant red with a vegetal side perfect to be paired with a hare, onions and potatoes roast. Venha Vinho!
