CIDG SEIZED PHP10 MILLION WORTH OF ILLEGALLY REFILLED LPG CYLINDERS IN OPLAN LIGAS

Pursuant to the directives of CPNP PGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL to uphold the rule of law and ensure public safety, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) executed a major operation against illegal LPG activities. On September 19, 2024, CIDG Rizal Provincial Field Unit successfully seized illegally refilled liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders valued at approximately Php10 million during an operation conducted in Maislap, Brgy. San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.

The operation was part of Oplan LIGAS, a flagship campaign of the CIDG aimed at curbing the illegal refilling, manufacturing, importation and retail of LPG. The raid was conducted by virtue of search warrant issued by Hon. Glenda Mendiza-Ramos, Executive Judge of the RTC, Calamba City, Laguna against United Metro Gaz Inc. for violations of Republic Act No. 11592, also known as the LPG Industry Regulation Act.

During the operation, three suspects were apprehended, and authorities confiscated a substantial number of illegally refilled LPG cylinders—both full and empty—as well as essential equipment used in the illegal refilling operations. The items seized included seals, hoses, refilling tools, and sales documents related to unlawful transactions. Furthermore, cash proceeds from the illegal sales, amounting to Php 1,281.00 were also secured as evidence.

Due to the lack of specialized equipment and safety concerns, larger items such as LPG storage tanks, weighing scales and refilling machines were not immediately removed from the site. Both parties have agreed to present these items before the court, should the need arise.

The entire operation was conducted in strict compliance with legal protocols, with the presence of Barangay San Isidro officials and other representatives to ensure transparency and proper documentation.

The arrested individuals are currently in the custody of the CIDG Rizal Provincial Field Unit and are subject to the appropriate legal proceedings.

PMGEN LEO M FRANCISCO, Director of CIDG, commended the success of the operation, stating, “This accomplishment under Oplan LIGAS underscores our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the public from dangerous illegal activities. We will continue our vigilance to ensure the safety of our communities, dahil ang gusto ng pulis, ligtas ka!” # # #
