When Jheam applied to Bodega as a roastery staff, we asked him about his plans. He said he wanted to finish college and eventually apply his degree to his work. At the time, he was a working student who had already spent around five years in a fast food chain. That told us everything—we saw someone eager, hardworking, and full of grit.
What we didn’t know then was that Jheam had to quit school and sit out for several years just so he could save up and put himself through college. That kind of determination is rare—and it’s exactly what made us believe in him.
We saw something in him, so we backed him up and helped cover the rest of his schooling.
He wasn’t a coffee drinker then, but he quickly grew to love it. He adapted fast, initiated cupping sessions on his own, and even sparked an interest in joining coffee competitions.
On top of all that, Jheam brings a lightness to the team—he’s funny, dependable, and makes our workdays feel a little easier and a lot more fun. 🫂
We’re proud of how far he’s come—and even more excited for where he’s headed.
Congratulations on your graduation, Jheam! 🥳
Your Bodega Coffee Roasters family is proud of you. 🙌🏻
