JOIN US, LET’S CELEBRATE ART.
The National Museum of the Philippines Rizal, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, is celebrating the National Arts Month with a series of lecture-workshop to be facilitated by Ed Castor, a visual artist from Talim Island, Binangonan, Rizal.
Our invited visual artist will conduct a lecture-workshop on portraiture on February 23, and another lecture-workshop on painting using indigenous materials on February 28. The participants will also have a chance to learn about an ancient art form through a guided tour at the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs.
Edmund Cabrera Castor is a visual artist in painting and sculpture. He discovered his interest in landscapes and portraits at an early age. Lacking money to buy paints, he found innovative ways to express his creativity using alternative materials such as coffee, squid ink, annato, turmeric, flowers, etc., and later became known for this medium. He believes that an artwork is not defined by the materials used, but how your heart and art are infused.
Indeed, his passion for arts and love for local culture were translated to artworks that documented the intangible cultural heritage of the province such as traditional games, instruments, and traits. He is the founder of Grupo Sabado Angono, and members of other art groups in Pasig and Rizal.
With the theme, Ani ng Sining: Diwa at Damdamin, let us celebrate together the fusion of soul and passion through this activity this weekend. The workshop kit is limited to 30 only, so, those who want to join can preregister at this link: (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ygugMBi3phgoLECxCEk9FsuZ2UaOkpsU3-bzSkDPjSo/edit?usp=sharing) or message this page, email at [email protected], or text this at 09190773104 or 09947970375.
