What is Mortgage Redemption Insurance (MRI)?

When you apply for a housing loan from a bank, they’ll usually require you to have an MRI. This is a type of life insurance that pays off all or part of your remaining mortgage if you pass away or become totally disabled.

💡 Good to know:
- If you already have life insurance, you can assign it as your MRI.
- If you don’t, the bank will require one—often added to your housing loan as a lump-sum (one-time annual premium).
