Daghang Salamat to everyone who visited our National Museum of the Philippines - Cebu yesterday during our regular museum hours, 9AM-5PM, and the grand Cebu cultural event, The Gabii sa Kabilin from 6PM-12MN.

Also, our sincerest gratitude to everyone who dropped by our NMP Cebu Museum Shop and got something as keepsake from our Pambansang Museo. Proceeds goes a long way in improving the economic benefits of our Cultural Workers who are members of the NM Employees' Multi-Purpose Cooperative and in championing the spirit of Cooperativism in the Philippines.

This Holy Week, we present one of the popular #𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑎 or #𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑎𝑑 traditions observed by the Cebuano faithful - the 𝑉𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑎 𝐼𝑔𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎 or church visit.

Visita Iglesia is a tradition that involves visiting at least seven churches usually during Maundy Thursday to Good Friday, although this may be done any day during the Holy Week.

Today, April 18 - and also the global celebration of , let us take you to one of the heritage churches in the south of Cebu that you may visit for your .

The Archdiocesan Shrine of San Miguel Arcangel in the Municipality of Argao, Cebu was one of the eight vicarages established by the Augustinian Definitory of 1599. It was placed under the mission district of Sialo (now, Valladolid in Carcar). The church has Baroque Rococo details such as the altar, wooden pulpits, front and side doors.

The Archdiocesan Shrine of San Miguel Arcangel and its parishioners commemorated its first founding anniversary celebration last May 17, 2024, 290 years after it was established.

This church is also one of the thirty-two Cebu churches designated as Jubilee churches by Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu. You may make use of the Pilgrim’s Passport, collect stamps as proof of your visit to the Jubilee churches, and make it personal by writing your reflections and experiences from your visit.
