The name Bala'dang is rooted in the rich culture of two indigenous tribes - BALANGAO and GA'DANG, from the eastern part of Mountain Province towns of Paracelis and Natonin.

OUR BEGINNINGS

Established in 1997, Bala’dang Handicrafts started as a small initiative to support local artisans and showcase the rich heritage of Cordilleran craftsmanship. What began as a simple appreciation for local artistry soon turned into a mission: to share the beauty of our culture with the world while providing sustainable livelihoods to our artisans.

Seeing the decline in traditional handicraft-making due to modernization and limited opportunities, we wanted to create a platform where our local artisans could showcase their skills, tell their stories, and continue their craft with pride. Thus, Bala’dang Handicrafts was established—named after a local term symbolizing creativity and heritage.

Our Name, Our Roots. The name “Bala’dang” is a fusion of Balangao and Ga'dang, two indigenous tribes in the eastern part of Mountain Province. It represents the spirit of resilience, creativity, and tradition that continues to thrive in the heart of Paracelis and Natonin, Mountain Province.

Our main store is proudly located in San Rafael, Paracelis, Mountain Province, where our artisans handcraft each unique piece with care. To make our products more accessible, we also have a branch in Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province, where both locals and visitors can experience the beauty of Cordilleran artistry firsthand.
