TUESDAY was spent in the bush with Lucy, Cookie, Sadie, Honey, Ravi, Arlo, Olive, Cotton, Zeva, Flash & Baxter.
We didn’t get to go on quite as long a hike as usual (we were still out for two hours) as 15 minutes into the adventure they were all off down a very steep bank, somewhere they don’t normally venture, after a possum; everyone came back, well I thought ‘everyone’, but 5 minutes later I realised ‘where’s Olive’ 🥴🙄 I called and called, nothing! So off we went back tracking to hunt for Olive. I then had to climb down the very steep bank; it would have been a lot easier with 4 legs, a shorter body, and claws on my feet but I had to rely on sturdy tree branches to hold me from falling while I told the dogs above me to wait! Arlo came with me as I knew he would sniff Olive….. he found her munching on the fresh dead possum, in a spot I couldn’t get to! We had to retrieve her from below. So all of us others ventured along the river bed where I had to cross through thigh deep water to get to a steep rock bank and haul myself up (thank goodness flax are sturdy) to get to the little scoundrel! Olive was immediately put in the lead, no more freedom today for dogs that ignore recall commands for almost an hour 😡 Olive is definitely on Santa’s naughty list this year!!! Thankfully all the other dogs were still having a blast during this ‘hunting for Olive’ phase of our adventure. We then set off for our second hour of adventuring where Olive stayed on the lead! She had a tiny bit of freedom when we headed back through the field to the van, but my eyes stayed glued to her!
