Flåmsbanamuseet - The Flåm Railway Musem

🇬🇧 «The Royal wagon»
This magnificent, covered carriage has been called the Royal carriage, the state carriage and many other stately names over the years.
King Haakon VII and Queen Maud rode it down Flåm valley, in the spring of 1914.
At the time, the founder of Fretheim Hotel, Christen Fretheim, provided coachmen with beautiful coachman’s suits, coats with shiny buttons and tall hats. The procession was large and there were many carriages. It was estimated that around 50 horses were in use, down the Flåm Valley.
The state carriage was also used at fine weddings in the village. Janna and Toralf Øksdal on their way from the church in 1946.

Now the “Royal carriage” can be enjoyed in all its splendor at the Flåm Railway Museum.

🇳🇴 “Kongevogna”
Kjær vogn har mange namn.
Denne flotte kalesjevogna har gjennom åra vorte kalla for kongevogna, stasvogna og mange andre staselege namn.
Kong Haakon VII og dronning Maud køyrde i den, ned Flåmsdalen våren 1914.
Då skaffa grunnlegg Jar av Fretheim Hotell, Christen Fretheim, flotte kuskedrakter, frakkar med blanke knappar og høge hattar til kuskane.
Følgjet var stort, og det var mange vogner og stolkjerrer, det vart talt rundt 50 hestar som gjekk i lang rekkje ned Flåmsdalen.
Stasvogna vart også brukt ved fine bryllaup i bygda. Avbiletet er brudeparet Janna og Toralf Øksdal på veg frå kyrkja i 1946.

🇳🇴 Me held no stengd på grunn av vedlikehald og opnar igjen 10. mars. Me beklagar ulempa og for ikkje å kunna visa den flotte historia om korleis dette eksepsjonelle jernbanesporet vart bygd.
I mellomtida tilrår me eit besøk til Memories from Flåm - Flåm Store.

🇬🇧 The Flåm Railway museum has gained access to a great film from 1950, which describes the descent from Myrdal to Flåm station with the old EL9 locomotive. A truly unique technical masterpiece of engineering in western Norway’s adventure world and is now shown on screen in the museum.

🇳🇴 Flåsbanamuseet har fått tilgang til ein flott film fra 1950, som beskriv nedfarten frå Myrdal til Flåm stasjon, med det gamle EL9 lokomotivet. Verkeleg eit teknisk meisterverk i Vestlandets eventyrverd og visast no på eigen skjerm i museet.

🇳🇴 No er neste bok om Huldra fra fjorden i sal på Flåmsbanamuseet. Nye eventyr for Nora og dei kjende venna hennar, og dei nye vennene hennar, Ninni og Bjørk. Ei fin julegåve.

🇬🇧 Now the next book about Nora from the fjords is for sale at the Flåm Railway museum. New adventures for Nora and her friends, but also the chance to meet her new friends, Ninni and Bjørk.

🇬🇧 Late 1800’s more ships with tourists came to the area, during summer months. Many visitors wanted to see more of the valley and demand for horse drawn carriages increased the next decades.
Fretheim Hotel offered this to their guests up and til Flåm Railway started running in 1942.
They were not the only ones and in 1910, a total of 70 horses were licensed for this 4h trip up to Myrdal station.

🇳🇴 På slutten av 1800-talet kom stadig fleire turistskip til området i sommar månadene. Mange besøkjande ville sjå meir av dalen og etterspurnaden etter skyss auka dei neste tiåra.
Fretheim Hotel tilbaud gjestene detta, heilt fram til Flåmsbana opna i 1942. Dei var ikkje dei einaste og i 1910 vart det totalt gitt løyve til 70 hestar, for denne 4 timar lange turen til Myrdal Stasjon.
