meet Christoph & Julie Hoch (Austria), two spirits with shared philosophy 🌿

join us this Thursday, 19th June, for Natural Born Sippers, where you’ll have the chance to meet Julie Hoch. she is the voice behind Christoph Hoch’s wines and the mind behind Pure Joy Botanicals.

Christoph is deeply rooted in his family’s traditions and he brings razor-sharp focus and innovation to biodynamic viticulture. he’s known for expressing the unique terroir of Hollenburg’s limestone soils through Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, and sparkling wines that are electric with life.

Julie leads Pure Joy Botanicals, a project focused on fermentations that sit at the crossroads of wellness, ritual, and pleasure. she is making sparkling herbal infusions, wildflower ferments, and low-alcohol botanical tonics. flowers are processed into teas which are then blended with grape must and directly filled into the bottles to ferment.

it started with an idea, a flicker, a new friendship with .so.nice and .collective, a few — too many — glasses of wine, and a cause we care about deeply and constantly.
you came through — curious eyes, red cheeks, generous; you danced, you spilled, you kissed and you (we?) cried.
surrounded by beauty and art, loud voices and clinks of glasses, we raised funds for Ukrainian Air Defence (1227€).
thank you for showing up in all your shapes; for bringing chaos, cash, and care.
this isn’t over. it never really is.

Dear Rebels,

It is with a tear of sadness and a tear of happiness that we announce that we are leaving Rebel Wines. After almost 10 years we decided that it’s time for a new chapter in our lives. We have had an amazing 10 years, met so many amazing people, had so many great times, we count ourselves very lucky for the beautiful journey that was Rebel Wines and now we’re off to new adventures! Via this post we want to thank you, our friends, customers, customers that became friends, winemakers, winemakers that became friends, industry people, industry people that became friends. Thank you all, we love you!

Hold up! This might not be the end of Rebel Wines as we’re talking to some people very dear to us that are looking to take over the shops. Once we have news on this we will of course announce it here!

In the meantime, we declare a sale! For the coming weeks we’re giving 25% off all wines from 25 euros, as well as everything alcohol free and everything beer. Be quick to grab those good bottles! And to say goodbye to us obviously.

We are pumped for the next NBS! It will be soon, on Friday December 6th, at our shop on de Van Woustraat (de Pijp). We asked our good friend Simon J Woolf if he’d like to host the next NBS. We gave him complete freedom, from wine to music selection.

Simon says “Tonight we are going to drink abstract electronic house music and listen to Central European wines.” Maybe he was under the influence of a cult Frankovka when he wrote that, but you can be sure of amazing oranges, red/white blends and other genre-busting bottles from our favourite Slovakian, Czech and Austrian growers plus the man himself will be behind the decks playing some seriously deep house grooves.

Drop in anywhere between 18.00 and 22.00. Tasting costs 15,-, but buy an early bird ticket on the website and it will be only 10,-.

Oh yes it’s time, we are restarting Natural Born Sippers! This first edition will be on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17th, at our shop on de Van Woustraat (de Pijp) with non other than our dear friend João Tereso from . Drop in anywhere between 16.00 and 20.00 to do a tasting of João’s wines as well as a few other bottles that will be selected by the great man himself. Tasting costs 15,-, but buy an early bird ticket on the website and it will be only 10,-. Wines also available by the glass / bottle, we’ll provide snack options, and to top it off we will have playing some funky tunes 🤩
