Tinubu Sends 65 Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate for Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 65 ambassador-designates to the Senate for screening and confirmation, marking one of the most sweeping diplomatic nominations since he assumed office.

The newly released list features several prominent Nigerians, including:

Sulu-Gambari Ahmed

Sen. Grace Bent

Sen. Ita Enang
alongside 62 other nominees drawn from across the federation.

According to Presidency sources, the nominations aim to “strengthen Nigeria’s foreign representation, deepen international partnerships, and reposition the nation’s diplomatic agenda.”

The Senate is expected to begin the screening process soon, with analysts predicting intense scrutiny of political balance, professional competence, and geopolitical considerations.

If confirmed, the new ambassadors will represent Nigeria in various missions around the world and are expected to drive Tinubu’s foreign policy objectives, including economic diplomacy, security cooperation, and diaspora engagement.

Nigeria’s global mission map may look very different in the coming weeks.

NCDMB Launches $100 Million Equity Fund to Boost Local Oil Producers

In a bold move to strengthen Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has unveiled a groundbreaking $100 million equity investment fund dedicated to supporting local upstream petroleum producers.

The fund, introduced as part of the Board’s ongoing drive to promote indigenous participation, aims to provide financial backing for Nigerian-owned companies engaged in exploration, development, and production activities. According to the NCDMB, the initiative is designed to bridge funding gaps, reduce dependence on foreign capital, and accelerate growth within the country’s energy value chain.

Executive Secretary of the NCDMB highlighted that the equity fund will prioritize companies with strong technical capacity, viable assets, and long-term growth potential. He emphasized that boosting local oil production is critical for strengthening national revenue, creating jobs, and stabilizing the energy sector.

Industry experts have lauded the move as a strategic step toward achieving energy security and deepening Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry.

The fund is now open for qualified indigenous producers seeking to scale operations and contribute to Nigeria’s crude output.

Market Shake-Up: Portfolio Realignment Opens Golden Window as Stocks Hit 5-Year Low

The Nigerian equities market has entered a new phase of volatility as widespread portfolio realignments, cautious investor sentiment, and sectoral repositioning pushed major stocks to their lowest levels in five years.

Analysts say the downturn though unsettling for many investors has created a rare window of opportunity for strategic buyers seeking undervalued assets with strong long-term fundamentals.

Market watchers note that institutional investors are rebalancing their portfolios ahead of year-end reports, contributing to sell pressure across several blue-chip counters. Despite this, financial experts insist that the current dip could mark the beginning of a major rebound cycle, especially as macroeconomic indicators show signs of stabilizing.

Retail investors are advised to stay alert, conduct proper research, and take advantage of discounted stock prices before the market begins its expected recovery phase.

FCTA Cracks Down: Abuja Property Owners Face Tough Enforcement Over Unpaid Charges

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced a strict enforcement drive targeting property owners across Abuja who have failed to settle their outstanding statutory charges. According to officials, the operation aims to boost compliance, enhance revenue generation, and ensure proper urban management within the FCT.
Enforcement teams have already begun visiting estates, commercial buildings, and private properties to serve notices, seal defaulters’ premises, and demand immediate payment. The FCTA says the exercise is necessary to maintain essential services and infrastructure development in the capital city.
Property owners are urged to clear their debts promptly to avoid sanctions, legal action, or disruption of business activities. The administration emphasized that the enforcement will continue until full compliance is achieved.

According to officials, the raids were carried out during a series of coordinated operations aimed at curbing crude oil sabotage and protecting national assets.

WAEC Stands Firm: 2026 WASSCE to Hold as Full Computer-Based Test

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed that the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be conducted strictly as a computer-based test (CBT). This confirmation was made by Amos Dangut, Head of the Nigeria National Office, after the 63rd Nigeria National Council meeting in Umuahia, Abia State.
This comes despite earlier remarks by Binta Abdulkadir, Chairperson of WAEC Nigeria National Committee, suggesting that CB-WASSCE would begin fully in 2027. Dangut, however, clarified that WAEC has not received any formal communication altering its original plan.
“As we speak, we are only hearing that there is a discourse at the National Assembly. We have searched and found no formal communication,” he said, emphasizing that only official directives not media reports can change the timeline.
WAEC maintains its commitment to modernising assessment and preparing candidates for a digital future.

Ezekwesili Slams ‘Cancerous Corruption’ as Root of Nigeria’s Worsening Insecurity, Mass Abductions”

Former Minister of Education and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, Oby Ezekwesili, has blamed Nigeria’s deepening insecurity and the recurring mass abductions of schoolchildren on what she calls “cancerous, systemic corruption” crippling the nation’s institutions.
In a post shared via her X handle on Monday, Ezekwesili said corruption had eaten deep into Nigeria’s foundational values, leaving vital institutions including the military and judiciary “terribly compromised and incapable of delivering on their mandate.”
According to her, “Endemic corruption gradually ate up the very values on which they were founded and rendered them the impotent institutions we now know.”
She warned that the alarming rise in attacks and kidnappings reflects the full consequence of decades of ignored good governance. Ezekwesili described the repeated assaults on schools as clear “proof of state collapse in its most basic duty the protection of our greatest human asset: our children.”
Ten years after the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction, she argued, the Federal Government can no longer plead ignorance or inexperience.
“What we have is deliberate negligence, and deliberate negligence is a crime,” she said.
Ezekwesili added that any administration that fails to rescue abducted children or secure schools “accepts that it governs without legitimacy.”
Her post ended with a pointed conclusion: “Enough said.”
