PAP MAKING📌

AKAMU IN IGBO
OGI IN YORUBA
HAUSA-???😁

INGREDIENTS:
1:Corn
2:Millet
3:Guinea corn.

I learnt this from my Mom during one of her Omugwo visits.
Some do add other things but these three grains are just ok for my family.

PROCEDURE:
1:Pick out the specks, wash throughly and soak all together in the water for 2 to 3 days.✅

2: Wash the corn and change the water daily.✅

3: On the 2rd or 3rd day, wash and grind smoothly.✅

4: Get a big bowl, get a Chiffon material and tie it round the bowl.The bowl should be big enough to accommodate the akamu and the water you'll use to sieve it.✅

5:Sieve till you are left with only the chaff.✅

6:When done, take off the chiffon cloth and set the mixture of water and akamu aside to settle until you notice a clear water on top.✅

7: Transfer the mixture into a bag(specially made for pap)tie the bag and keep for the water to drain, or squeezing slightly until no more water.✅

8: The next day, remove the akamu from the bag , cut it up into parts and put them in a container or tie in batches in a nylon and store in the freezer.With steady light, it stays for as long as you want✅.

Back in my single days, whenever I visited my sister in Lagos, she had this signature breakfast combo, BUNS and CUSTARD 😄.
The snack selling woman opposite her house, never fails in dishing out yummy, crunchy buns.

At first, I thought, “Buns? For breakfast? Who does that?”
I honestly didn’t see it as an ideal breakfast, more like a snack.

But as time went on...that crunchy buns + hot custard combo began to hit differently 😋.
Sometimes with pap, sometimes coffee or tea… and boom! It became one of my favourite ways to start the day!

Funny how the things we once side-eyed can become our faves.

Have you tried buns for breakfast before?

I just laughed😂😂.
My dear, at that moment, na only SAFE DELIVERY dey my mind o!
Shyness no dey labour room!
