Taman Eko Rimba Sg Sendat

Not far from Sg Tua, there's another nature spot called Sg Sendat.

While Sg Tua is known for its long river stretches and picnic areas, Sungai Sendat offers something a little different — a series of waterfalls hidden within the forest.

There are a few tiers of waterfalls to explore, with cool water flowing through the forest and plenty of spots to sit back and enjoy the surroundings. The water was refreshing, the air felt cooler than the city, and everything moved at a much slower pace.

What we liked most was how accessible it is.
No long trek.
No difficult climb.
Just park your car and enjoy nature.

One thing we noticed: The waterfall area had very few to no mosquitoes, which made it comfortable to spend time there. There are shaded areas as well.

The river and picnic areas near the lower section had more mosquitoes because of the surrounding trees, so bringing repellent is still a good idea. 😂

📍 Ulu Yam, Selangor (around 40–50 mins from KL)

🎟️ Entry Fee:
Malaysians: RM2 (Adult) / RM1 (Child)
Non-Malaysians: RM10
Toilet fee: RM0.50 (adult) one off
🚗 Parking: RM3 per car (available at the main gate and inside the area)

🕗 Opening Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Things to know before coming:
• Waterfall is just a short walk from the parking area
• Several waterfall tiers to explore
• Family-friendly
• Great for picnics and relaxing
• Plenty of natural shade
• Weekends can get crowded
• Water shoes are recommended at the river area
• Toilet facilities available (I feel much cleaner than Sg Tua’s toilet)
• Please help keep the area clean and bring your trash home

It's not a place with fancy attractions.
Just waterfalls, fresh air, and a few peaceful hours away from the city. ☁️

Taman Eko Rimba Sg Tua | Selangor, near Batu Caves and Ulu Yam

Less than an hour away from the city, you can already hear the sound of flowing water, rustling trees, and the quietness of nature again. 🌿

We spent a few hours here — and honestly, it felt less like a tourist spot, and more like a place to slow down.

The river was cold and clear. Families sat by the stream, kids played in the water, and people simply relaxed under the trees.

What we liked most was how natural everything still feels here.
Not overly commercialized.
Just trees, rocks, flowing water, and simple moments.

Of course… because it’s surrounded by forest and greenery, there were quite a lot of mosquitoes too So don’t forget your mosquito repellent… or just stay in the river 😂

But the nice part is that almost the whole stretch of the river area is shaded by trees, so it stays cool and comfortable even during the day. (we went there at 12noon)

📍 Around 40–50 mins from KL

🎟️ Entry Fee:
Malaysians: RM2 (Adult) / RM1 (Child)
Non-Malaysians: RM10
🚗 Parking: RM3 per car

⛺ Camping (bring your own tent):
No reservation needed, just walk in before 5pm.
Total fees calculation for 2D1N (eg for 2 adults): 2+2+3+10+10
Main gate will be locked at night, guard shift 6pm-8am

Things to know before coming:
• No hiking needed
• Family-friendly
• Cold & refreshing river water
• Great for picnic and relaxing
• Weekends get crowded after 10am
• Rocks can be slippery, bring slippers/water shoes
• Toilets available but facilities are basic
• Phone signal may be weak in some areas
• Rubbish bins are available but please do clean up the table and chairs after use

Honestly, it’s not a luxury kind of place.
But maybe that’s what makes it peaceful ☁️

This is our first-ever purchase for car camping, and we’ve been using it for over a year now.

We originally tried a pure air mattress, but it didn’t work well for us — especially for two people. Every movement could be felt, and it felt too unstable. Personally, I also noticed it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, almost like mild motion sickness from the floating sensation.

That’s why we switched to a foam + air + thickened mattress, and the difference was huge.

🛏️ Why we still use it after 1 year:
• Much more stable for two people
• Better support than pure air mattresses
• Feels closer to a real bed in the car
• Thickened design improves comfort on hard surfaces

⚠️ Honest downsides:
• Slightly bulkier than basic air mattresses
• Takes more space when packed

For us, sleep comfort has always been a top priority in car camping. Our record is a full 12 hours of sleep, haha!

We never expected a road trip in Malaysia to be this fun.

What started as a short escape,
turned into 11 days of slow travel —
kampung roads, quiet stops, and moments we didn’t plan for.

This is Episode 1 of the journey.

Tell me — would you do a road trip like this?

Our first camping trip was full of improvisation.

We didn’t have much, so we borrowed from friends and reused what we had—
table cloths from our zero waste store, cups from home,
and tables and chairs from friends made our simple setup complete.

Even our sun shade was lent by a new camping friend next lot!
They even taught us how to set up our flysheet—really thankful to them, otherwise we might have packed up and gone home.

It wasn’t perfect. A little messy. A little scary.

Then nature threw us a curveball: on our check-out day, a fallen tree blocked our only way out.

At first, panic—we were out of food, a bit rushed, just trying to leave.
Then laughter. Maybe it was a sign—
telling us to slow down, enjoy the moment, and notice the world around us.

So we did. We went back, chatted for a good few hours, and took our time noticing everything around us.

From running a zero waste store to our first camping trip, the lesson is the same:
reuse, simplify, pay attention, and find joy in the little things.

Back then, it was about helping people live with less waste.
Now, it feels like nature itself is teaching us to live with less stress,
and letting friends—and even a fallen tree—remind us what truly matters. 🌿

Perfection in imperfection

"aiyo, use this kind of packaging? Not zero waste leh"

For those who bought online from us, you will notice different types of packaging. Some were donated to us, some were leftovers from our previous shops.

When we were packing parcels, we thought a lot.
Are we really doing zero waste? It's a parcel, we use tape, we use courier bags, we use this and that. Does this mean we are not really practising zero waste? Should we just stop using? Or should we even stop selling at all. Should we use only paper? No plastic at all? If didn't use plastic at all, if the parcel is wet, how? If the item inside is damaged how? Etc etc etc.....

We took a few years to really think thoroughly and still unable to figure it out.

Now, we just leave the thinking part to our customers. We will just use whichever packaging that we think is okay for us and for sustainability. It's imperfect and never can satisfy everyone. But it's perfect for us.

Wabisabi

"eh, I tot you closed for good? Still doing business?"

"Do you still refill online?"

We received these questions a lot. 😂

1. Yes, we do online business now at shopee. Here's the link shopee.com.my/basicsrefillstation

2. We are refurbishing our website. Once it's done, we will post here.

3. In our shopee shop, we didn't sell any liquid detergents. We do sell soap bars and shampoo bars.

4. We are taking our time to experiment how to do liquid refill online, conveniently and efficiently.

Lastly we want to say thank you to those who still remember us. We do not know how long we will take to come back with refills. We want to take it slow.

慢慢来,比较快嘛。
好的谢谢你们的支持。
