The Youth League of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Vice President Jeremiah Koung regarding former President George Weah.
In a strongly worded statement issued during a press conference at the party's headquarters, CDC Youth League Chairman Alvin Wesseh criticized Vice President Koung’s comments, describing them as an attempt to politically undermine former President Weah ahead of the 2029 general elections.
Chairman Wesseh firmly warned Vice President Koung to focus on addressing the country’s ongoing economic challenges rather than referring to former President Weah as a “common citizen.”
Recently, Vice President Koung was seen in a live Facebook video describing former President Weah as a “common citizen,” a statement that has sparked intense debate nationwide. Wesseh argued that such remarks are not just politically inappropriate but also counterproductive to fostering a cohesive society and ensuring free and fair elections in 2029.
The CDC Youth League Chairman further suggested that Vice President Koung views Weah as a significant political threat in the upcoming elections and is therefore attempting to discredit him and his party—a strategy Wesseh insists will ultimately fail.
