Real Sri Lankan Chicken Curry 🇱🇰
Nothing says Avurudu at home like a rich, clay pot chicken curry; slowly cooked, full of spice, aroma, and that unmistakable Sri Lankan flavour. This Sinhala & Tamil New Year, gather around the table with family, share laughter, and enjoy the dishes that make the season truly special.
Ingredients:
Chicken
Onions (chopped)
Garlic (chopped)
Ginger (chopped)
Green chillies
Curry leaves
Pandan leaves
Roasted Curry Powder
Turmeric Powder
Pepper Powder
Chilli Powder
Cardamom
Cloves
Cinnamon Sticks
Mace
Tamarind Paste
Coconut milk
Salt to taste
Oil
Method:
1. Marinate the chicken with 2 tsp Mc Currie Roasted Curry Powder, ½ tsp Mc Currie Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp Mc Currie Pepper Powder, 1 tbsp Mc Currie Tamarind Paste, and salt. Keep aside
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a clay pot and add onions with Mc Currie Cardamom, Mc Currie Cloves, Mc Currie Cinnamon Sticks, and Mc Currie Mace. Add curry leaves and pandan leaves
3. Add garlic, ginger, and green chillies. Sauté until fragrant
4. Add 1 tsp Chilli Powder and 1 tsp Mc Currie Roasted Curry Powder, mix well
5. Add the marinated chicken, mix, cover, and cook on low heat
6. Pour in coconut milk, stir gently, and let it simmer until thick and rich
