As the union embarks on its 2024 activities, I sincerely thank you for your
support and great contributions that enabled our successes in 2023.

The ended year was an interesting and challenging one for our movement. We saw
positive growth that gave hope for a better future. The addendum to the
2021-2025 CBA and expanded promotions benefited many members.

The union is fighting for cadres that were left out of these gains. We have
formed a Technical Committee with the employer to pursue the following demands
within the current CBA cycle ending in 2025:

1. Salary increments for cadres left out.

2. New promotional vacancies to resolve all stagnation by July 2024.

3. Full harmonisation of house allowance with Nairobi rates by 2025.

4. Introduction of risk allowance for post-primary teachers.

5. Enforcement of government policy on per diem and overtime allowances.

6. Empirical improvement in the medical cover for teachers.

7. Collective bargaining on KNEC and MOE assignments.
