With the 2022 vintage, we converted five wines 🍷 from our line to organic farming 🌱.
But who are the people whose passion and deep respect for nature lay the foundation for our Puntay wines?
Over the coming weeks ⏩️, we would like to introduce some of our organic winegrowers.
The first in our series is Markus Morandell from Kaltern. Born in 1956, he is a passionate winegrower and one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in our region.
Already in the 1970s, he developed a keen interest in biodynamic farming and, driven by strong conviction, converted to organic viticulture in 1992. Today, he cultivates 1.2 hectares of vineyards in Kaltern, growing Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot – all farmed organically.
“𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱.”
For Markus, organic farming is above all about working in harmony with nature and preserving resources for future generations. Living soils, healthy vines and the responsible use of natural resources are, for him, the foundations of sustainable viticulture. As he likes to say: “We are not working only for ourselves, but also for the generations to come.”
