Ieri bellissima serata al Ristorante Gallo Nero, con pietanze squisite, elaborate dallo chef del ristorante senese e dallo chef del ristorante il Gabbiano 3.0, entrambi di altissimo livello. I piatti sono stati accompagnati dal nostro Chianti colli senesi e dal supertuscan Do Ut Des. 🌹

We are proud to announce that our winemaker, Gioia Cresti, has been awarded Woman Winemaker of the Year 2024 by the 11th Sakura Awards in Tokyo, whose committee every year selects the best women winemakers from all over the world. This year the participants included 430 women winemakers from 27 countries.

🍷Vigna Montaperto Gran Selezione 2018 has received the Diamond Trophy - one of 61 wines out of 4023 entries.

Whatever Luca does morphs into a party. Even if it is the serious business of a blind tasting between Italy and the Rest of Europe. When Peter and the staff of Newcomer Wines came in, we set ourselves the task of matching wines from France, Austria and Germany against completely different Italian grape varieties to create a similar flavour profile in order to see how they compared. It was a tough task… made all the easier by copious amounts of wine and laughter. Needless to say, though Austria and Germany performed rather well on the whites, Italy did exceptionally well on the reds, and especially with Sangiovese. All in all, who came out on top? Our majesty, Passione Vino. May the reign continue!

We love our Passione Vino family. The collaborators that we have worked with for years and who support what we believe in. Robin Hutson, founder of The Pig hotels, is one such example as much as he is great fun to be around.

What do we love about going to a Pig hotel when roaming around England (rather than Italy)? Firstly because we can find a great bottle of (umm, our) wine. Case in point: our latest find of Carpineta Fontalpino from Chianti and a couple of glasses of Trebbiano by Valle Reale. But because we can also find food with the same local philosophies that we hold and some stunning archetypal British buildings.

Its enough to make us not want to escape back to Italy when we’ve had enough of London. Well, almost.
