The Wine Centre at 15 John Street has been renowned for its dedication to customer service and excellence in product selection since it first opened in 1970. The multi-award winning store boosts an extensive collection of both new and old world wines and over 300 craft beers are available in-store. The recently opened “Whiskey Wall” carries over 120 whiskeys, including a selection of rare bottles,

all of which are available to purchase. A proud member of the Kilkenny Whiskey Guild, The Wine Centre carries the largest selection of Irish Whiskeys available in the South East, with 90 different varieties available. Regular public tasting events are held in-store while private tastings be arranged.

The benchmark for light, fruity summer red wine is undoubtably Pinot Noir!

This thin skinned grape is one of the worlds most popular light-bodied red wines that originated in the French region of Burgundy – also known as Bourgogne. Loved for it’s light cherry flavour profile and smooth finish, Pinot Noir – with it’s low tannin – is a versatile wine that pairs extremely well with a range of dishes including red and white meats. Grown in moderate climates such as the previously mentioned Burgundy region, Marlborough in New Zealand and coastal areas of California.

Want to try something new? We have two fantastic new Italian wines from Librandi Wine that we are VERY excited about!

First up is the Asylia Melissa Bianco, made from sustainably produced Greco Bianco, the most widely cultivated white grape variety in Calabria. Fresh, fruity & floral with good acidity – expect hints of fresh fruits such as peach and apricot.

Next is the Ciro Rosso Classico, made from native Gaglioppo grapes, cultivated in Calabria for centuries and considered one of the region’s most important grape varieties. Robust and full of red & dark fruit notes such as cherry, plum, and blackberry – this is the perfect wine to match with classic Italian staple dishes such as pizza and Bolognese.

NEW WINE WEDNESDAY 🍷

We have a range of brand new premium Italian wines landed this week, including this wonderful - from much sought after hillsides of the Piedmont region. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, this is a wonderful wine aged for 3 years in oak. The result is subtle spice hints on the nose combined with red fruit and mineral aromas. A robust, full-bodied wine with well balanced tannins – ideal to serve with rich meat based dishes and matures cheeses.
