Casar de Burbia has positioned itself among the best wines of El Bierzo.

Their firm commitment to organic vineyard cultivation, research with indigenous grape varieties, and the creation of single-vineyard wines from their own vineyards provide consistency and uniqueness to their project and their wines.

At the same time, Casar de Burbia remains faithful to tradition, recovering cultivation techniques and winemaking processes to make wines as they were made in the past.

Aged in French oak for about 10-12 months, this vibrant Mencía has a nose of black cherry, blackberry and blueberry, and on the palate it is spicy, well balanced, with firm tannin's and acidity, a true reflection of the minerally-rich Bierzo terroir. Decant for 2 hours.

Have it with barbecued meats, grilled vegetables, pan fried duck, or even with spicy chicken.

Ruta 49 is has a strong floral aroma. The grapes used come from the youngest vineyards, giving it a fresh, zesty taste of crisp apple, melon sorbet with a clean citrus finish.

For the Terras de Lantaño the grapes are
left on the lees for at least 3 months. It is golden yellow in colour, has a fruity aroma resting on a floral background, and a fresh, and complex flavour that leaves a long, fruity and pleasant aftertaste.

They’re both very easy to appreciate by everyone.

A great summer wine, Chenin Blanc is originally from the Loire Valley in France and was one of the first grapes planted in South Africa in 1655, it is known locally as Steen. It produces a wine with good acidity of floral mineral and citrus aromas and flavours.

Valditerra Dolcetto 'Anno Zero'
From a tiny vineyard in Francavilla Bisio, where the grapes are harvested by hand and taken to the cellar with a small trailer, destemmed and sent to the steel vat where they undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration of 48 hours, with protection from oxidation through the use of CO2. This technique allows to best extract all the aromatic and polyphenolic components, to obtain a fresh, young red wine, suitable for any occasion.
Ruby red colour, good aroma, hints of red fruit with a light spicy final note.
Have it with cold meats, cheeses, salad or, but of course, pizzaaaa.

Wine Buff Cork

The Wine Buff Cork opened in June 2002 and was located at the old Post Office on Washington Street, in 2011 we moved lock, stock and barrel to our new premises on Oliver Plunkett St (just next to the intersection of Princess St) and a stones throw from the English Market.

Manager Katrin McDonnell’s first encounter with wine was picking grapes as a teenager and over the years has developed a keen interest in all things wine. Her favourites would be Bordeaux St Emilion and for the special occasions you can't beat a Barolo.
