And when one thing is off — wrong water level, loose grommet, coals that aren't fully lit — the whole session falls apart before it even begins.
Here's the thing though. A proper how to set up ho**ah session comes down to 7 steps. And once you've done it two or three times, it takes less than 15 minutes.
Water level is where most beginners go wrong first. Too high and it's almost impossible to pull. Too low and every hit feels harsh and hot. The sweet spot? About 1 inch of the downstem submerged. That's it. Add ice if you want smoother, cooler smoke — your throat will thank you later.
After that it's about the seals, the bowl pack, and the coals. Fluffy to***co, not compressed. Two layers of foil pulled tight. Natural coconut coals — fully glowing before they go anywhere near the bowl. Then patience. Give it 5-8 minutes before the first pull.
