Siracusa is located in the southeast corner of Sicily and has a history of more than 2,700 years. This region with a deep ancient Greek and Roman culture naturally has a rich wine culture. The Mediterranean climate has an average temperature of 25 degrees all year round. The soil includes clay, limestone, volcanic ash and calcium soil. The natural conditions and geographical environment are very suitable for winemaking.

Sicily has many interesting grape varieties. When talking about Siracusa, it must be Moscato bianco di Siracusa. This grape variety has been planted on this soil for more than 2,500 years. And the locals make this white grape into different styles of wine. There are dry white, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.

The vines are 20 to 40 years old and have their roots on mixed soil, lapillo, turece and clay. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of October and ferment in steel with indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the peels that was born with a desire to explore a different physiognomy of the classic business white. Domaine Eden is a nearby mountaintop wine estate Mount Eden purchased in 2007 . It was founded and built by the late Tom Mudd in 1983 and modeled after Mount Eden. Mudd initially planted the Mount Eden clonal selections of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon , which evolved to include Pinot Noir from various Dijon and Californian selections.

This property inspired a new wine brand , Domaine Eden which focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from this special site and Bordeaux varieties from Mount Eden’s larger home , the Santa Cruz Mountains.

A native to the Canary Islands, Carmelo Peña Santana worked in Chile, the Douro, and Bierzo before settling back in his native Gran Canaria and starting his personal project “Bien de Altura.”

His goals are to contribute to the recovery of abandoned vineyards in his area, to respect the terrain and work in an ecological and biodynamic way, and interpret the land, focusing on making the best possible wine that can come from each plot.
