This morning, a small electrical problem gave me a biggggg lesson!
The power suddenly went off in the office and thankfully, it came back almost immediately.
But then we noticed something; the lights on one side of the building were on while the other side was still dark.
So I called the electrician. He came and started checking. He checked the electrical box but everything looked fine. There were two, so he checked the bigger one and the smaller one. Still, everything seemed okay.
Then he started checking the switches; one after another, starting from where the lights were off.
â– First one, Nothing.
â– Second one,Nothing.
â– Third, Nothing.
He kept checking until he got to the eighth one.
And there it was; a small cable had disconnected.
That tiny cable was the reason an entire side of the building had no light.
I honestly paused when I saw that.
Sometimes isn't that exactly what happens with us? 🤷
Something isn't going well, and we immediately explain it away with:
â—ŹI'm tired.
â—ŹI've been busy.
â—ŹI have too much to do.
â—ŹI'll get to it later.
But have we really checked? 🤔
Have we gone back far enough to find out what is actually causing the problem?
We are almost at the end of September.
The first nine months of 2026 are almost gone.
And this morning, I told myself:
Naana, go back and check the switches.
Look at the goals you set at the beginning of the year and ask:
✔️What happened?
✔️What did you accomplish?
✔️What didn't happen?
✔️Why?
Not the easy answer but the real answer.
â—ŹMaybe there is a habit I need to change.
â—ŹMaybe there is something I've been postponing.
â—ŹMaybe I got distracted.
â—ŹMaybe I took on too much.
â—ŹMaybe something small became a bigger issue because I didn't deal with it early enough.
Whatever it is, I need to find it. Because I still have one quarter left and so do you.
And before we rush into October with new plans and new goals, perhaps we should take a moment to understand what happened between January and September.
â– Don't just complain that the light is off but check the switches.
â– Find the point of disconnection.
■Fix it and then switch the light back on❤️
Just sharing one of my Monday morning musings with you and I hope you find value in it
Cheers 🥂
