Hi all.

You’ll see that the Rooms is currently shut. And will be for a little while.

I’ll be totally open… an electric bill just wasn’t payable despite all of my best efforts.

I’m so sorry to have to express this news. I am doing all I can. And believe I have a solution. But it may take a week or two to resolve.

I value our staff and customers so much. And am beyond gutted by this. It’s been a tough year for hospitality and I’m afraid this is an issue due to that. But I’ve also not done all I can personally. And I love this pub, and this village. And will work harder to ensure it stays a part of the village.

I know how our staff are reliant on the business succeeding… and that’s my main focus right now. And I also know how loyal and lovely our customers have always been.

I owe everyone a thank you. And a promise that I will do everything to make this wonderful little place open and trading again.

There are several wonderful pubs in the village and beyond and I hope you can find a place to call home. The Swan, the Bull, the Wicked Lady, the Crooked Chimney… all great places to have a pint or some food. And there’s some wonderful restaurants too.

But I certainly hope that when (not if) we reopen.. you come back and see Tony and have a pint or a glass of something nice.

From myself, my staff and everyone at the Reading Rooms, we wish you a very happy new year, here's to 2026. And with a new year brings new opportunities to enjoy your favourite local micropub, new opportunities to catch up with friends and family and more opportunities to come and moan about your favourite football team. . This new year also brings new events, starting this month (dates and details TBC) is a coffee morning, 9:30-11:30 one day a week where you can have a cuppa (which won't cost the earth) with friends, catch up with family over coffee. Also in the pipeline is a bingo night, a once a month darts competition. If there is any other ideas you can think of that will be suitable for the rooms please let me know at [email protected].

A CALLING TO ALL… AN INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY…

Farr Brew are looking for new folk to help us invest in our current properties, in future opportunities at the new brewery and in outside events too.

We have had such lovely support from our current investors and are now restructuring to take advantage of some shares being released. If you are interested in looking after local jobs, and a local business, then let us know.

As I am sure many know, we have now been around for over 10 years – have ridden many storms (remember Covid! – That was a fun one!)…and are still here. We can provide full overviews of the business generally, and up to date financials too.

To be clear to our current investors that may be reading – this is not a dilution – the directors are simply releasing some personal shares and then investing those monies into the business.
