Training days 🤩
Great customer service is a team effort - 3 families working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything works like clockwork here at the Skello Shop. Orders, stock control, till work... and all that in school holidays. The shop is open EVERY DAY from 3pm - 6pm, even when my boys and I get away for a little break in August. Nice weather would be a bonus 🌤

Special very low calorie pasta and rice products. We tried them, they taste good!
We got those in for a customer who has since stopped shopping here, so many of them are now out of date and half price if you want to try them?

I spy with my little eye... 🧐
A new shelf. Hanging hooks. And ...(drum roll)... a "Try Me" box so you can test things before you buy them: Bubbles, hand cream, lip balm (to smell only, maybe), everlasting pencil, multi-colour pen, highlighter, hooting owl key torch, perfume stick. Go on, try the bubbles!!! 🌬
Because Saturday nights are for tidying, so here we are 😅 Open Sunday (like every day) 3pm - 6pm.

I’ve had to cancel the holiday with my children this year, because I cannot get cover for the shop. The boys are devastated that we don’t have at least one measly week in the year where we can spend time together without distractions, and I feel incredibly guilty. So I promised I would ask…

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to train up in the shop’s operations who can cover a short holiday and occasional shifts during the rest of the year? Regular hours may become available. This would be a fully paid job, and training would be given, no previous experience needed. The ideal person should:

• Be available outside of school hours and during school holidays.
• Be a driver who can collect deliveries from the Floss.
• Be able to sign up for Post Office assistance, i.e. no criminal record, be 18+ years old.
• Be fit and healthy enough to lift boxes and occasional bags of animal feed.
• Be friendly, discreet, conscientious and a calm problem solver.
• Be unafraid of learning the computer skills needed to operate the till and place orders.
• (The AI generated assistant in the picture has 4 arms – that’s not a requirement.)

I totally understand that people have to move on from jobs every now and again, and that circumstances change, but I’m really needing someone who can commit longer term due to the cost of training.

The "Skello Penny Coffee" is now PERMANENT!
Got a few Skello Pennies in that jar on the mantlepiece? In the car? Behind the sofa? You can now use them to treat yourself and the whole family to a free hot drink (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) at the Skello Shop. Because a Skello Penny is not just for Christmas :-)
One Skello Penny = One Hot Drink.
You now need to spend £25 in one go to get a Skello Penny - a slight increase from £20 over the past ten years, but not a big change for most of our regular customers. And as long as the Skello Shop is in business (which, thanks to your loyal support for local shopping, it will be for a while yet!), you can use the Skello Pennies to get your discount on your shopping, or a complementary hot drink if you choose.
And to confirm, YES you can pass your Skello Penny on to anyone you like. If you really, really like them.
