🌿 CAO Pilón

Strength: Medium-bodied
Main flavours: Nuts, cocoa, cedar, spice and pepper.

Flavour profile

* First third: Smooth cedar notes accompanied by toasted nuts and a gentle pepperiness.
* Middle third: Cocoa and roasted nut flavours develop, supported by earthy to***co and warming spice.
* Final third: Cedar and pepper become more noticeable, with cocoa and earthy flavours contributing to a satisfying finish.

What makes it distinctive?

Pilón takes its name from a traditional to***co fermentation technique.

To***co leaves are carefully stacked to ferment together, helping develop their colour and flavour. The technique dates back to 19th-century Cuba.

The cigar uses an Ecuadorian Habano Viso wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler.

The result is a balanced cigar that combines spice and complexity without being as heavy as MX2 or Brazilia.

Best paired with:

* Aged rum
* A medium-bodied single malt wh**ky
* An IPA craft b**r
* Espresso

My verdict: An excellent option for someone who appreciates a balanced cigar with cedar, cocoa and spice rather than overwhelming strength.

What makes it distinctive?

MX2 stands for Maduro times two.

It features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a Brazilian binder, with filler to***cos from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.

This combination produces a deep, rich flavour profile with sweetness balanced by pepper and earthy complexity.

Best paired with:

* Rye wh**ky
* A dark, robust stout
* Aged rum
