𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒓: 2006 Soldera Case Basse, Toscana IGT

Soldera Case Basse was founded in 1972, in Montalcino, Tuscany. They are recognised for their highly sought-after wines produced from prized Sangiovese.

2006 marked the first release from Soldera as an IGT wine. After an employee sabotaged the winery, destroying vintages 2007-2012, Soldera made the decision to label every wine as IGT rather than Brunello di Montalcino. Production is very limited, making these wines rare and intriguing.

The 2006 vintage was legendary across Tuscany. The harvest was generous, and the wines tended to be full, rich and opulent. The best examples are drinking well today, and still capable of further cellaring - Soldera provides a fine example of the best this vintage had to offer.

Introducing two new releases from our friends at North Star Spirits

First up, if “old” whisky is your thing, this superb 26-year-old blend should be on your radar. The roster of distilleries behind this delightful bottling remains a closely guarded secret, but it’s composed entirely of Scotch whiskies, the youngest of which is 26 years old. Matured in a refill sherry butt, it yielded just 254 bottles.

Next, we have the Campbeltown Connection. Don’t be misled by the 10-year age statement; some of the whisky in this blend is rumoured to be as old as 25 years, which is quite a feat when you consider it is comprised entirely of Springbank and Glen Scotia malt.

Taste a piece of liquid history.

This 27-year-old single cask release from That Boutique-y Rum Company hails from the now-closed Enmore Distillery, which ceased operations in the early 1990s. Distilled in December 1990 this is one of the last examples of Enmore liquid distilled on their wooden pot still, one of the only existing examples of such a still in the world.

Matured for 27 years in oak casks across Guyana and the UK, and bottled at a robust 51.2% ABV, this is a bold, evocative expression and available to taste at next month’s Specialist’s Selection cellar tasting.

Three New arrivals from our friends from the Scottish Highlands - Adelphi/Ardnamurchan

We have a 2025 entry to the Fusion series. A series that marries scotch whiskies with countries it has significantly influenced. This edition celebrates William Cargill - who led 350 migrants from Scotland to New Zealand in 1847 - by blending Ardnamurchan single malt with that of New Zealand’s Cardrona Distillery. Just 200 bottles of this unique malt were created.

The second batch of the popular Midgie expression from Ardnamurchan, comprised of ex-bourbon casks (50%) and Port barriques (48%), with a touch of sherry cask-matured stock (2%), offers a distinctly different experience to Batch One. And finally, a whisky rarely seen in independent bottlings these days: a single cask Clynelish, matured for 9 years in a first-fill bourbon cask and bottled at natural cask strength (53.5%), yielding just 215 bottles.

Champagne Jacquesson breaks the mould with a terroir-driven approach, zero dosage, and long lees aging - it is pure, precise, and full of character.⁠

The 2004 Champ Cain comes from a south-facing Grand Cru plot in Avize, planted with 100% Chardonnay in 1962.⁠ It is complex, age-worthy, and rare - making it one of the region’s most coveted cuvées.

New bottles from North America have just landed online and in-store.

First up, the 2025 release of Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye. A limited bottling, only released in years when Michter’s rye casks of exceptional quality are ready. This expression delivers bold yet remarkably balanced flavours, a rich, spice-forward dram with notes of sweet vanilla and a dark fruit finish.

Joining this are three expressions of Tequila from the family-owned distillery, Tapatio. Produced using traditional methods and estate-grown 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested after 6–8 years in high-altitude volcanic soils, these tequilas are perfect for cocktail enthusiasts, or simply sipping neat or over a cube of ice or two.

We’re excited to spotlight a superb white wine from Domaine de la Bretonnière - an elegant expression of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.

Crafted from Melon de Bourgogne grapes, this light-bodied wine is bone-dry and refreshingly crisp. Its bright acidity and subtle saline finish make it a natural pairing for seafood or a perfect companion to warm, sunny days.

The first ever single malt whisky made in the West Midlands!

Last year, West Midlands Distillery ceremoniously bottled a one-of-one whisky that marked the first-ever West Midlands English single malt. Today, they release the first publicly available whisky from the distillery.

As a West Midlands-based company, we are greatly proud of the team at West Midlands for achieving this huge milestone, and we look forward to a long and prosperous era of West Midlands whisky. This is your chance to own a piece of West Midlands history.

This five-part series includes four single casks of various disciplines, plus the marriage of all four in a special "Matriarch" expression, all of which are available now online and at our Stourbridge shop.
