We are all so sad to hear the news today that our friend David Fieldhouse has sadly passed away.

Hair by David was part of the Oxbridge community for an incredible 55 years. Just a few doors down from our petrol station, David was a familiar face in the Garage, regularly popping in for a bite to eat, a newspaper and, of course, plenty of banter.

Over the 41 years we’ve been here, so many members of our team got to know David and grew incredibly fond of him. He had a brilliant sense of humour, always had time for a quick chat, there was never a dull moment when he was around.

RIP David. A true gentleman and real local legend. You’ll be very sadly missed by us all. 💙

TRIBUTES PAID TO LOCAL BARBERING LEGEND DAVID FIELDHOUSE

Tributes are being paid to much-loved barber David Fieldhouse, who has sadly passed away.

David passed away yesterday morning following a period of ill health after his retirement.

David dedicated an incredible 55 years to the barbering trade. He started as an apprentice in 1961 before taking over his own barber shop eight years later, building a reputation and becoming a familiar face to generations of customers.

After decades behind the chair, David finally hung up his scissors in 2024, bringing an incredible chapter in the local barbering community to an end.

His family say David was adored by many and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral arrangements will be shared when they are known.

Rest in peace, David. A true local legend.
