🍷W**E OF THE MONTH AT THE VILLAGE SHOP 🍇

Meet The Black Stump, a full-flavoured Aussie red that has been a bestseller for over two decades. Made for pouring into BIG glasses, it’s an inspired combination of Australia’s flagship grape, Shiraz, featuring the lush, spicy bramble fruit that Aussie w**e fans adore, together with the little-known Durif variety – an inky black grape that gives the w**e richness and depth of flavour.

Its name comes from it being the best you’ll find ‘this side of the black stump’ – the mythical boundary at the edge of the known world. And after tasting it, we’re inclined to agree. Perfect with your Sunday roast, a venison stew or a steak and kidney pie; and currently on offer at the Village Shop, with a £1.50 reduction, at £11.49.

📣FANFARE!!📣

Today at the Village Shop we launched our new electronic point-of-sale system, aka Tilly McTillface. This will transform shop operations, making life substantially easier for volunteers (here's a happy one!) and providing us with all the data we need to support stock control and accounting. The launch is the result of two-and-a-half years' work: researching, fundraising, setting up, testing and training. Thanks to everyone involved! (and apologies in advance for any glitches arising... 😏)

THANK YOU & FAREWELL
The Village Shop would like to say a big heartfelt thanks to Stephen, Tia and all the team who, over the past couple of years, made The Longs Arms a place where people wanted to be - the very definition of successful hospitality. In particular, we would like to thank them for their constant support of the Village Shop's fundraising events, not least the Sunflower Dinner and Sunflower Tea that took place in the summer.

We wish them well and hope it is not too long before a new chapter can begin at The Longs Arms. In the meantime, this is a timely reminder to as we prepare to introduce a new electronic till system into the shop tomorrow. Watch this space for updates!

It's never too late to pick up your last minute bits and pieces. Check out our stationery (paper, notebooks, pencils, pens etc) and healthy snacks, so your young students can be fully equipped on day one. Have a good first day back!

☀Staying chilled at the Village Shop😎
Thanks to our new refrigerators, the shop is stocking a wide variety of chilled items and keeping veg fresher during the heatwaves. Ideal for quick, light lunches and warm summer evenings, chilled food and drinks to tempt you include handy ham trimmings, mackerel pâté, Somerset goat’s cheese and delicious traditional pork pies handmade by our baker… plus, in the drinks fridge, lemon iced tea, San Pellegrino sparkling orange and lemon, and Fentiman’s ginger b**r and elderflower juices.

(Psst! It's also cool in the Coffee Shop if you just want to get out of the heat!)
