Found the excellent Castro Village Wine Company in San Fransisco.

And really enjoyed a bottle of Pleiades ###II. From grapes including Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Viognier, Zinfandel and Syrah, it had masses of fruit, silky tannins and an intense complexity. Apparently ‘This is a wine that doesn’t asked to be liked, it asks to be understood.’

Great wine shop and a great wine!

Well. Here’s a first and one I was extremely surprised to discover - English Albariño

Made by Balfour Wineryy and supplied by Wine Meats Cheese UK in Southend it’s fascinating.
The zestyness and saline quality you expect from a Spanish Albariño but with a crispness and light body I find quite beguiling.

And at only 11% abv it’s very acceptable indeed.

Went fabulously with oysters and Hawaiian Poké.
