Good Spirits Wine & Beer

Good Spirits Wine & Beer The newest wine merchant in the city centre. Opened June 2015, we aim to be the best independent win

We are an independent wine and beer merchant based on West Nile Street in Glasgow city centre. Our craft beer range includes many fine brews from Britain, Belgium, the USA, the Czech Republic, and beyond, with everything from the hoppiest of IPAs to the darkest of porters, via lambics, dubbels, tripels, saisons and many more. We have a great range of wine from around the world, with a particular f

ocus on Spain and Italy, as well as classics from France, Australia, Chile, and South Africa amongst others. To round it off we have a choice of champagnes and sparkling wines, along with port, sherry, and dessert wines, while our fine wine cabinet has a small selection or old, rare, or particularly fine wines.

Hey, how’s it going? We were just thinking about you!

Us? Oh, we’re fine thanks, just filling the shelves with a bunch of new things so we thought we should let you know about them.

Vault City just dropped off the latest bunch of silly sours, covering breakfast bowls, your favourite Portuguese tarts, cocktails and more. There’s a chocolate-dipped peanut butter pretzel piece Imperial Stout that we know a few of you will be very into too (oh, and some more of that Iron Brew number that you’re always asking about).

We also got a big fresh batch of German favourites for those of you that are more excited by the classics. The ones pictured are just some of the lesser seen selections, but don’t worry, we got a whole load of Auggy, Paulaner and all of that deliciousness.

Anyway, nice to see you, good to catch up, hope to see you again soon. 🍻

Well now, that’s quite an unexpected heatwave out there eh? Fortunately we have just the thing to slake your thirst.

From Holy Goat there’s ‘Sonnborner’, a new Hefeweizen alongside the latest vintages of ‘Doom Witch’ (a Flanders Red with Strawberries) and ‘Astral Destiny’ (their Framboise).

Or, if you’re in the mood for something a little more… silly, then there’s one new cheeky wee Pineapple & Lemon Ice Cream sour from Vault City.

We also have a fridge full of all sorts of other nice refreshing things for you to take the sting out of a day in the office with faulty air conditioning.

Well now… yesterday was A DAY.

We got a fresh shelf full of Pilot (top tip: that ‘Sunny’ Pale really helps wash away a day of humphing wine and beer crates in the heat, delicious stuff), we got the latest batch of Vault City, alongside more sours from Pastore and the rest, we got collabs, we got Pale Ales and DIPAs, we got Porters and Stouts, we got some big silly Impys from Germany, basically we got a LOT. If you want it, we got it.

So, if you could, please be gentle with us today. 🍻

WE ARE TEN!

It seems like only yesterday that we first opened the doors to 105 West Nile Street, but it has been a decade, and what a decade.

So, we thought we should celebrate such a big birthday with a BIG beer, a 10% Imperial Stout - aged in the barrel that held 30 year old brandy - brewed with our friends at no less.

Having tasted a little at our staff party last week we can tell you it is beautiful stuff, but if you want to find out for yourselves then drop in over the weekend as we’ll have a bottle or two open for tasting.

Thank you to each and every one of you that has passed through our doors, liked one of our posts, come to one of our tastings, brought your dog in to see us, whatever. We wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you from the bottom of our collective heart.

🚨 NEW BEER TUESDAY 🚨

We got this year’s take on Balla-Mara (a Sea Buckthorn Gose) and a refresh on Afresh from Dookit, we got some Arbor cans (that’s a gluten free Helles, a gluten free Mosaic Pale and a NOT GLUTEN FREE Coffee Stout) with a glow up on the artwork, we got a delicious Kellerbier from Göller, we got St Bernardus’ first ever lager (a collaboration with Weihenstephan), and we got a tropical take on Kasteel in both full strength and alcohol free versions.

One or two more things to come through the week, so - as always - STAY TUNED! 🍻

Another rolls around, and it’s another delicious one if we do say so ourselves.

1. The return of Burning Sky’s Rustic Table Beer is always cause for celebration round these parts, the beautiful illustration on the can is nearly as delicious as the farmhouse fun within. Beak also provide a Table Beer, more juicy though, hopped with fresh Citra & Idaho 7 for fruity crushability alongside a delicious sounding IPA in collaboration with Japan’s Uchu Brewing.

2. A customer recommended Belfast’s Bullhouse Brew Co. to us a week or two back, we tried ‘Rolling Papers’ (they seem to be pretty fond of the jazz woodbines), their Hazy IPA last week and lo and behold here it is this week alongside ‘El Capitan’ because we can resist neither an export stout nor an illustration of a majestic dog.

3. Radler watch! The weather shift doesn’t seem to have lessened your appetite for low alcohol refreshment so we decided to expand the selection with a lemon number from Warsteiner and a lime laced Rothaus.

4. Bonus majestic dog (our wee pal Hulk).

More to come through the week (beers, not dogs), so stay tuned.

Gimme Gimme Gamay!

We heard talk that all of the sunshine that we have been enjoying might be on the road oot, but for now - as the old saying goes - Gamay while the sun shines.

This bottle of Raisins gaulois has been making eyes at us since its arrival earlier in the week. A beautiful, fresh, light (this vintage is virtually translucent) & juicy natural red, perfect for enjoying alongside the last outing of your sun specs until September.

For this week we seem to have (mainly) gone for a modern classic theme. We can’t lie to you, this is EXACTLY the kind of stuff that gets us excited on a sunny morning in Glasgow.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The Kernel. Best to ever do it? We couldn’t possibly say, but we can tell you that this Hopfenweisse, Lagerbier and Krush hopped Pale Ale are likely to be going home with oor David this evening. You should see the smile on his wee face.

🇧🇪 A couple of very exciting collaborations from Brasserie de La Senne, a hoppy Festbier brewed with Eric Toft from Schönramer in Bavaria and Augostino Arioli from Birrifico Italiano and a Bière de Coupage (a blend of aged sour beer and a young ale) with none other than Cantillon, brewed for the 25th anniversary of their Quintessence festival. We can already hear the rumble of beer nerd hordes up West Nile Street since we added this to our Untappd.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 slightly less classic (although people have been adding fruit to beer for quite some time, just ask the Belgians, or indeed the Mesopotamians), but several of you asked if we were getting this new Mango Pale in from Marble, so we thought we probably should. Despite those big 500ml cans from Marble, we reckon these are going to disappear pretty quickly under sunny skies. 🍻😋🥭
