🍷🇮🇹 Why take two bottles to a dinner party, when a Magnum will do?! 😉😁

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico, Allegrini, Veneto, Italy, Magnum, 2017

is an Italian family business based in the Veneto since the 16th century. All wines use estate grown fruit sourced from 90ha of vineyards in the communes of Sant'Ambrogio and Fumane.

Grapes: A blend of 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta. Hand harvested. Aged in new oak barriques for 18 months, in large barrels for 7 months and in the bottle for about 14 months.

Tasting Note:
Notes of cherries and blackberry jam, followed by hints of dried violets, dark chocolate, coffee and to***co. It takes the palate by surprise with its balance, freshness and softness, enhanced by silky-smooth tannins.

Our wine tastings take place on Friday evenings in our Wine Studio located between Shirley and Solihull. No prior knowledge is needed, just simple purchase a ticket, turn up, learn some fun facts wine facts to impress all your friends with, and taste some amazing wines.

🍷🇿🇦 On Friday, we welcomed Luan from , and tasted wines from their Estate, Reserve and Heritage collections.

Bellevue are based in Stellenbosch and have a history dating back 200-years. All the grapes for the wines are grown on the estate, with single estate (plots) going into the Reserve and Heritage wines.

🚨🆕 🇮🇹🍷 New wine alert...

Italy offers the world so much in the way of wine, with vineyards planted from the Alpine north to the Mediterranean south. Let's take a road trip to discover exciting new flavours, some familiar, some a bit off the beaten track, but all with that Italian "something" that just can't be replicated anywhere else.

Lo Triolet Petite Arvine, Vallee d'Aoste, 2021 (White)
Grown on the mountainous border of France/Switzerland, north of Turin, the Petitie Arvine gives wine with a floral aroma, delicate fruit and intense, savoury herbal notes. Mineral flecked, pure, bright, and full of fresh Alpine energy.

Ascesa Nebbiolo, Rosso di Valtellina, Lombardia, 2020
A mountain red from spectacular vineyards east of Lake Como, this Nebbiolo wine is lighter than Barolo, but offers similar floral notes of roses and violets, alongside red fruit flavours of cherries and plums, sweet spices and aromatic herbs.

Pieralisi Caccialepre Organic Rosso Piceno, Marche, 2021
The central Italian region of Marche is home to both Montepulciano & Sangiovese, and this Rosso Piceno blends both into a traditional savoury, velvety textured wine with flavours of bramble fruit and plum.

La Belle Malvasia Lunaria Orsogna, Abruzzo, 2023 (White)
The wild Abruzzo region is home to Orsogna's, biodynamically grown Malvasia vines, which offers us a soft, ripe wine with notes of stone fruits (nectarine, peach), and citrus (orange zest & candied lemon peel).

Tenuta Serranova Susumaniello, Salento, Puglia, 2022
The rare Susumaniello grape gives wild herbs and spicy dark fruits. A robust and richly flavoured wine with baked plum, black cherry and bramble fruit on the palate, finishing with brown spice and toffee.

Varvaglione Papale Oro, Primitivo di Manduria, Puglia, 2020
Primitivo is the king of red grapes in the far south of Italy and the Manduria region grows the finest examples. Deep, dark, and irresistibly seductive! Flavours of dark chocolate and sweet strawberries.

🇮🇹🍷🍕 Feeling nostalgic this Friday with, Chianti Fiasco Botter.

Embark on a journey to the heart of Tuscany with our Traditional Fiasco Chianti. This exquisite wine hails from the renowned Chianti region, which has been producing world-class wines for centuries. The bottle itself is a true piece of Italian heritage, with its iconic fiasco design - a round-bottomed flask wrapped in a straw basket. This time-honoured packaging not only pays homage to its roots but also ensures the wine's integrity during transport.

Gianna de Neri`s Brunello comes from two organically farmed plots on the gentle slopes near Torrenieri, north-east of Montalcino. An authentic Brunello with the Sangiovese variety giving this wine its power and structure. A very pretty wine showing fresh red cherries, strawberries, citrus, nutmeg, rose petals and cedar. A great combination of finesse and concentration. Silky tannins and chewy fruit are a winner. Full-bodied and powerful, yet agile

This morning, we welcomed Guillaume, from . Where we were treated to a horizontal tasting of their 2023 wines, featuring Saint – Bris, Bourgogne Chardonnay, Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis 1er Montmains. A lovely start to a Thursday morning! 😉😋

🍷 Marimar Estate 'La Masia' Don Miguel Vineyard Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, USA, 2018

Sustainably farmed and bottled, unfined and unfiltered, this Pinot Noir has a bright classic colour and nose, reminiscent of raspberries and black cherries, with savoury notes of orange peel, sage and sandalwood. The palate has scents of violets and orange blossoms, with soft tannins that promise a long life, potentially developing for another 10-15 years, maybe more! Try pairing with a vegetable & quail casserole, sautéed apple wedges and flambéed raisins.

🥇Awarded "Gold Medal" at the 2022 Pinot Noir Global Masters and 94/100 points Wine Spectator

🌱The Don Miguel Vineyard: Named after the late patriarch of the Torres family, this sustainable vineyard is located in the Green Valley — the coolest, foggiest region of the Russian River, only ten miles from the Pacific. Planted in the European-style high density of over 2,000 vines/acre, the yields are low and labour intensive; but the vines live longer, and the grapes acquire better balance and greater concentration, as well as more elegance and finesse.

🆕💝☺️New in and just in time for Valentines Day...

Domaines Ott Clos Mireille Provence Rosé, Cotes de Provence, France, 2022

The Clos Mireille property's vineyards overlook the Mediterranean and the sea breezes have a cooling effect on the fruit growing there. One of the oldest and best producers of rosé in Provence. Expensive, yes, but worth it for a "Cru Classé" wine.

Made from a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. The wine is a very pale pink highlighted, depending on the vintage, with golden, orange and even vermilion tints. Its bouquet reveals fresh fruit (mango, melon) punctuated with lemony notes. On the palate, its freshness develops through citrus aromas around a resolutely mineral core before ending with a subtly persistent finish.
