New drops at Kabinett! You know we love burg!
Maison Meyer has just hit the shelves. These have been some of the hottest w**es I’ve tried this year. After training at the acclaimed Realm Cellars in Napa, Nikolas Meyer relocated to Savigny (now Pommard) in 2020 when some friends offered him space in their cellar and access to some beautiful fruit. He’s not looked back since. These are polished, elegant, and long lived w**es that wouldn’t go amiss in any cellar. After tasting a few few of Niko’s w**es, I can assure you that the hype is real.
New PYCM drop!! What is there to say about these w**es that hasn’t been already said a thousand times before? Alongside Roulot, these set the benchmark for modern white Burgundy. Beautifully reductive and tightly coiled, these are built to stand up to long cellaring, however there is a beauty in drinking these energetic w**es in their youth. Like a fresh breath of air or an electric tingle.
With only 4ha, Denis Bachelet has built a powerhouse of a domaine. Sourced from 6 parcels of pure Gevrey fruit, Denis’s VV bottling walks a tightrope between luscious red and black fruit and chiseled tannins. These w**es are calling out for a space in your cellar. One of the iconic expressions of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Finally, if large formats are your thing… and they should be, we’ve got a little Cotes de Nuits Village from the old vineyard manager and cellar master of Domaine de L’Arlot, Didier Fornerol. Didier left L’Arlot in 1999 to take over his family’s estate and has brought some magic along with him. Whole bunch is king here, bringing a freshness to the w**es along with a lifted spice that makes you to tackle more than a glass. Jean Pierre de Smet, retired co-founder of L’Arlot, lends a hand in cellar as well. A pedigree worth your attention.
