Today marks 'International Albariño Day.'

Albariño is best known in the northwest regions of Spain and Portugal, but is now widely recognised all-over the world, with examples from South Africa and Australia.

This exquisite grape variety has a diverse array of flavors, ranging from citrus notes such as lemon zest, grapefruit, and nectarine to stone fruits like peach and apricot and often accompanied by subtle aromas of honeysuckle.

Sometimes made in a dry and refreshing style, but also can be rich, weighty and complex.

Today is all about Pinotage. Known as South Africa's signature grape variety, Pinotage is actually a crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, which explains why it's so full of flavour and body!
Famous for it's smokiness, it certainly packs a punch.
