We’re excited to share that we’ve just completed a major refit for this store with a fresh new brand, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the store reopening celebration, with special thanks to the Year 2 children from Chandler's Ford Infant School for their beautiful singing and for cutting the ribbon with us! To show our support, we also donated £500 to the school to help invest in their wellbeing hub.

Our South Neighbourhood Teams have had real drive to ensure that we've refocused our efforts around retail crime. Theft from a retail store is something that has always taken place.

COVID19 has maybe brought about a greater desperation to commit theft by certain individuals. Unfortunately, that desperation has lead to threats of assaults or actual assaults on shop workers in certain instances, something that has played out across the country. It's vital that we play our part in reducing risk and ensuring we assist with protecting the workers within our communities. These workers make up our community. This has therefore become a focus of our South Teams.

We have identified a number of prolific repeat offenders who are targeting repeat locations. We have been working closely with our local businesses to ensure that they are confident in reporting matters; they have a local officer as a point of contact and that we are sharing information.

The offenders too will also have an appointed officer. They will have opportunities to change their ways and where appropriate, to seek support from partner agencies or other measures. What is right and proper though, is that they will be brought to task and be accountable for their actions. Of course, prosecution can sometimes be the gateway to getting that help and support to change.

"None of this is rocket science" I hear you say. No... You'd be right. It's not. "Then why are you telling us.... ?" As part of our online community, it's important we share some of the things we are working on or improving. I mentioned in an earlier message that we have had a bit of respite with the cooler weather; an opportunity to refocus some of our energies and priorities. We are committed to working towards the things that are so important to our communities and the individuals that represent those communities. Amongst many, this is one of the areas we want to focus on.

As I type, we currently have live investigations within our custody centres with some of the identified offenders. I hope to provide you with some updates on these matters over the coming days.

PCSO's Ben and Antonio have been visiting a number of our business premises for engagement, reassurance and information sharing.
