We probably do not say enough here on what happens to the donations kindly given to the crew fund on the shop counter. Most information goes out in The Diary on the website.

Yesterday, the Lifeboat was launched to a drifting RIB an hour out from The Cove. On weekends it is sometimes hard to find a crew, scattered to the four winds, doing whatever but five managed to get here in time for the launch.

When they came back, the crew fund provided for pasties all around after two and a half hours service.

A few weeks ago, the crew fund went towards financing a crew barbeque, which was a fun social gathering for families down on the Harbour beach.

So, a big thank you for those who have donated or have dropped books off to us at the shop.

Risking instant boredom, I have updated the bus timetables on the Old-Boathouse.com website (still not discovered how to post a sensible link).

No extra buses for summer on the Number 1. Still one per 2 hours to LE and PK.

Buses again, you'll think me fixated.
Summary of new times starting April 20 is now available on the old-boathouse.com website. Follow the Local Info drop down menu and Bus Times. The link is at the bottom of the page. I'd put it here if I knew how!

I meant to add, before I became confused and gently addled that there is no news on the St Ives bus supposedly coming real soon now.

I bring you glad tidings - possibly - on the St Just bus front. Alright, I'm a tad sceptical but I'm a miserable begger that way.

You might recall a while back that Go Cornwall had the route when they were first on the scene. They unceremoniously usurped First Kernow then at the end of the season decided they wouldn't do it anymore and First came back. Well...

Go Cornwall will give it another try this season in a "limited provision over the Land's End to St Ives section... in part replacing the Land's End Coaster"

Good to see that the AI timetable writer has decided the changes and increased frequency of buses will start 20th April, just after everyone has gone home from Easter holidays.

Good news and bad news. I will let you decide which is which.

First, The Old Boathouse Stores will be open from 08:30 Saturday 29th March. Yes, I know it is probably the latest that we have ever opened - other than during the Dreaded Lurgi - but we are getting slower in our dotage.

Next, you have probably no doubt heard by now but the decision by First Bus Group is that the Coaster is not coming back as in previous years. They had already made the decision to can the open topped bus so it was only one step further to not run any buses at all north of Sennen. The winter route as it currently stands will continue during the summer, but, we would hope, with a few more buses.

Because I am a cheeky sort, I thought that I might remind you of the much maligned council's transport vision statement:

“Transport in Cornwall will be excellent and carbon neutral. Our transport system will connect people, communities, businesses and services in a way that enhances quality of life, is reliable, efficient, safe, healthy and inclusive. People will choose to travel in ways that will have a low impact upon the environment and other people.”

Utterly meaningless, ain't it.

We have been working during the winter to bring to the store the various bits of home grown produce we failed to do last year because of our building works.

We have an all new greenhouse and Mother and the Missus have been in the potting shed, previously known as greenhouse, erm, potting things. If they grow and the critters don't get them, we will be sharing.

Just in case our wonderful customers and followers are not aware, our collection jar on our counter is for the boys and girls who volunteer on the Lifeboat.
Whatever gets put in the jar pays for them to have a night out, a Christmas party, bbq on the beach for them and their families or even just breakfast baps after a long shout.

I have just spent the last 3 hours working on the bus times summary for the off season starting tomorrow.

The new summary will be on the website from tomorrow morning, when it starts, and in the shop window.

Once again, there is no direct St Just bus.
