The Bonbon Established in 1951 The BonBon is Newcastle Co.Downs favourite sweet shop. The BONBON was opened by Joe and Kathleen Lynch on 1st of March 1951.

The name was copied from a shop that once stood in James Street, DROGHEDA. BONBON is a French term meaning “VERY GOOD”. When first opened it was operated out of what was practically a private house and it was several years before a traditional front was added. Then in 1982 it was extended to its present size and over the years has been altered internally several times. Harvey Lynch took over that running in 1972 and is now in the process of passing the business on to the third generation.

This cheeky chappy popped into the shop today and went straight to the pick and mix.🍬🍭
No ceremony. Just pure focus on the jelly babies and Liquorice Torpedos.
He scooped with confidence. Briefly contemplated the sour ones. Made a bold choice. Paid like a normal person.
So if you hear rumours that Buckingham Palace now has a secret stash of gummy bears in a pink striped bag… I can neither confirm nor deny. 😋
