Important EU Changes...
From July 1st a few things are changing when sending items to the EU - but you can still send gifts to friends and family, with a couple of updates to keep in mind.

✅ Gifts valued at €45 or less:
Personal gifts up to €45 will continue to be duty-free. You’ll just need to include customs data as you do today.

✅ Gifts between €45 and €150:
These will now attract a flat €3 customs duty per different item in your parcel. Handling Fees will be charged.

✅ Gifts above €150:
No changes here - the same duties and processes as today will continue to apply.

Cheque Deposit Information for Lloyds, Halifax & Bank of Scotland.
From 1 January 2026, Lloyds Banking Group (which includes LLOYDS, HALIFAX & BANK OF SCOTLAND) no longer offer cheque deposit services at Post Office branches.

If you need to deposit a cheque you can:
- use your app
- take it to your bank
- post it (standard envelope or for added security by tracked post):

First of all I'd like to say a massive thankyou to all our staff, especially for this week, as its been the busiest I've ever known in 6 years we have had the post office and 28 years at whickham news ❤️. Secondly I'd like to thank all our customers for their patience and continued support as it has been one crazy busy week, with us being only post office in Whickham at the monent, last week for international post, us taking over evri from tesco and also doing DPD etc. Thankyou so much, we really appreciate you xx
