🎆 Carnival Week starts with a bang this Friday at 9.30pm with a spectacular fireworks display!

The Slipway are proud to be one of the sponsors and would like to wish the Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival team the very best for a fantastic week of events.

Keep an eye out for our team taking part in the Wacky Wheelbarrow Race on Wednesday 5 August at 7.30pm – we're looking forward to joining in the fun!

If you're planning to watch the fireworks, don't forget to pop in and grab your drinks and refreshments from us. We'll be open until late.

And if you can, please consider dropping some money into one of the Carnival collection buckets. Your support helps ensure these fantastic displays can continue for years to come, with all profits going to local good causes.

The Slipway are proud to support Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival Week, including the ever-popular Duck Race on Thursday 6th August at 12 noon!
🎉 Prizes:

Every duck you buy helps raise money for local good causes, so why not take part? Ducks cost just £1 each, and you don't even need to be there on the day – winners will be notified after the race if you're unable to attend.

Over the years, Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival has raised thousands of pounds for local organisations, including the foodbank, Scouts, majorettes, youth football and many other community groups.

Next up in Faces of Lyme is Gary Williams, the new owner of The Slipway, the popular beach shop by the Cobb that provides everything you need for the beach more.

Gary recently took over the business from Sharon and Graeme Baxter, who successfully ran the shop for 30 years. He is determined to build on their legacy and ensure The Slipway remains the go-to destination for visitors and residents alike looking to make the most of their time in Lyme Regis.

From inflatables and beach essentials to cold drinks and holiday treats, The Slipway has long been a one-stop shop for seaside fun, and Gary is committed to maintaining the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere that customers have come to expect.

He is also passionate about keeping the business at the heart of the local community, supporting grassroots organisations and events including Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival and the town’s Christmas lights.

For Gary, taking on The Slipway is about more than running a successful business – it’s about playing an active role in the community and helping to preserve one of Lyme Regis’s much-loved local institutions.

After nearly 31 wonderful years, Sharon and Graeme Baxter have officially handed over the keys of The Slipway to Gary Williams, marking the end of a remarkable chapter and the beginning of an exciting new one.

Gary has pledged to carry on the Slipway’s tradition of offering “everything you need for the beach and more,” while continuing the strong support for local community events that Sharon and Graeme have championed over the years.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sharon and Graeme for their dedication and wish them all the very best for the future. At the same time, we wish Gary every success as he takes the Slipway forward into its next chapter.

The Slipway is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9am until 4pm from now until 14th February, when we will reopen daily.

Newspapers are currently available on Saturday and Sunday.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Slipway for all your hot and cold drinks, snacks, confectionery, gifts, and much more.

The Slipway team enjoyed a fantastic outing yesterday to Longleat, taking in a tour of the Safari Park followed by the magical Festival of Light. The shop by the Cobb prides itself on offering exceptional service to its customers, while also fostering a strong sense of spirit and camaraderie among its team members. Owners Sharon and Graeme Baxter, over the 30 years of running the business, have regularly treat staff to meals out and special trips, ensuring everyone feels valued and truly part of the Slipway family.
