The Good Wine Shop is an independent UK Wine Shop in Kew, Richmond Hill, Chiswick and Teddington, also available online. Our ethos is "Good Wine, Real People, Great Stories", specialising in the finest vintages from the world’s best small family producers. We have built a reputation for sourcing interesting and often quirky wines from well known regions as well as far flung places. We won Decanter Best London Neighbourhood Wine Shop in 2020 as well as Best London Wine Shop in 2019.

What a night at Richmond Hill!

We knew inviting the man behind BLANKbottle would be entertaining, but Pieter certainly didn’t disappoint. Extraordinary w**es, even more extraordinary stories and a shop full of people thoroughly enjoying both.

From beautifully expressive whites and wonderfully unexpected blends, Pieter reminded us why we love what he does. No rules, no conventions, just brilliant w**es with stories worth telling.

A huge thank you to Pieter and everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening.

And the good news? There’s plenty more BLANKbottle w**e heading our way from South Africa.

Christmas in October? Absolutely. 🎄🍷

All five Good W**e Shops are closed today while the team gets together for some training, a little festive cheer and a well-earned celebration.

Because once December arrives, we’ll be far too busy helping you celebrate Christmas to have one ourselves!

Weekend Barrel Pour

We’re celebrating Oregon W**e Month with a special barrel pour across all five of our shops!

Each shop has a different Oregon w**e open to taste, showcasing some brilliant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley.

Here’s what’s pouring:

OREGON IS CALLING! 🍷🌲

And we’ve got a rather lovely bottle to give away.

As part of our month celebrating Oregon w**es, we’re giving one lucky w**e lover a bottle of Bow & Arrow Cabernet Franc 2023.

Made from fruit grown at the biodynamic Johan Vineyard in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, this is Cabernet Franc with a distinctly Loire-inspired spirit. Just 200 cases were produced.

Think juicy red cherry and raspberry, a little savoury herb and a twist of pepper. Fresh, vibrant and just begging for something delicious on the table.

Our latest tasting dates have landed and there are some seriously good reasons to get a few evenings in the diary.

We’re putting Bordeaux up against the USA and Burgundy head-to-head with Germany, raiding the fine w**e cellar, welcoming Ancre Hill to the tasting table and heading to the Douro with plenty more happening across our five shops.

Oregon has landed. 🇺🇸🍷

All October, we’re turning our attention to one of the most exciting w**e regions around: Oregon.

Cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay might have put it on the map, but there’s plenty more to discover. We’ve brought together a dozen Oregon w**es from producers doing things their own way, from established names to some brilliant new arrivals.

You’ll find Oregon w**es across all five shops throughout the month, including w**es by the glass, plus a special mixed case and some weekend barrel pours across all five shops.

That’s Pieter Walser of BLANKbottle with our very own Richard, at Pieter’s w**ery in South Africa earlier this year.

And now Pieter’s coming to Richmond Hill. 🇿🇦🍷

We’re having a BLANKbottle party and you’re invited.

With Pieter, you learn to expect the unexpected. His w**es start with intriguing vineyards, unexpected discoveries and chance encounters and somehow end up with names like Moment of Silence, Frostbite at Westpeak and Familiemoord, usually with a very good story attached.

A new shipment of BLANKbottle w**es is currently making its way to us from South Africa and we’ll be opening a generous selection on the night. Expect old favourites, new vintages and, knowing Pieter, probably a few surprises too.

No formal sit-down tasting for this one.

Just w**e, pizza, music, Pieter and a party.

It seems you’ve already discovered this one… 👀

Criante G24 Grillo has been going down rather well on our w**e bar menu this month.

From Alcamo, western Sicily, it’s 100% Grillo: bright, characterful and wonderfully Mediterranean, with white pear and citrus, a little wild-herb lift and a fresh, salty finish.

And yes, we’re rather partial to that label too.

Swipe to Sicily, where apparently even mid-harvest there’s always time to stop, eat and raise a glass. We can get behind that. 🇮🇹

Well, this is rather lovely news… 🥂

We’re delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist for Independent W**e Retailer of the Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards 2027.

Being independent gives us the freedom to do what we love: seek out brilliant w**es, build lasting relationships with the people who make them, bring producers into our shops, open interesting bottles and help you discover something you might not otherwise have found.

Our final slide rather sums it up: our own Mark with Markus Lentsch, one of the brilliant producers we’re lucky enough to work with directly.

So this one is for everyone who makes The Good W**e Shop what it is, our brilliant team and partners, the producers who trust us with their w**es and everyone who comes through our doors to shop, taste, talk and discover. Thank you!

We’re in excellent company alongside Highbury Vintners, Lea & Sandeman and Vinotopia W**e Merchant and we’ll find out who takes the title in February.
