James J Fox We have been trading in fine to***co and smokers' accessories from 19 St James's Street since 1787
(611)

Our world famous to***co business started with Robert Lewis, who began trading fine to***co in St James's Street in 1787. James J Fox was formed in Dublin in 1881 and opened its first to***co shop in London in 1947. Fox acquired the business of Robert Lewis on 14 September 1992, uniting two of the most respected names in the cigar world. Both companies now trade as JJ Fox (St James's) Ltd and run

the cigar departments of Harrods and Selfridges. The shop on St James's street is managed by Mrs Jean Clark who, in 1999, was the first recipient of the Cuban cigar industry's prestigious annual Silver Chaveta award (the design of which was based on the famous Havana cigar maker's knife) as the “UK's top specialist in Havanas'. We are also among the very few shops to be exempt from the smoking ban. It is therefore possible to enjoy your purchase in our shop at St James's Street as a sample with the view to buy more if you wish.

We were delighted to welcome back the legendary Dawn Davies MW to James J. Fox for an unforgettable Ci**rs & Cognac pairing. Joined by David Felice, also from The Whisky Exchange guests were treated to a fascinating and flavourful journey through the world of Cognac.

Two exceptional ci**rs — Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Rothschild & Partagas Short — paired beautifully with six distinct Cognacs, creating a truly immersive tasting experience. The medium-bodied Fuente complemented lighter, fruit-forward Cognacs, while the bold, spice-led Partagas matched perfectly with richer, woody profiles of cognacs.

An incredible evening all around 🥃✨

And there’s more to come from The Whisky Exchange as they present The Cognac Show at Glaziers Hall London on 17th & 18th April — bringing together connoisseurs and curious minds alike to explore the very best of Cognac, alongside Calvados and Armagnac producers. Go to The Whisky Exchange for more information on their shows

We enjoyed a great night on St James’s pairing a Rocky Patel Emerald Toro with three whiskies from Ardnahoe. The cigar is box-pressed, rolled with a blend which is considerably medium-bodied. Not too much in terms of pepper and spice, but more dark chocolate and earth in the first half of the cigar, but as it burns down, the pepper becomes more apparent without becoming too domineering.

Our friends Mike and Duncan from Honest to a Malt podcast joined us on behalf of Ardnahoe to talk about the Whisky on the evening. While definitively Islay, the three different drams each produced a distinct flavour due to the casks having a heavy influence on the taste of the whisky. We enjoyed the Infinite Loch, the sherry cask matured Bholsa, and their Cask Strength aged five years. Thank you to Phil Matthews from Brightleaf Distribution, Duncan and Mike for their informative insigts into the cigar, whisky and their respective brands. Thank you to our guests for joining us once again and indulging all of us in great conversations and questions on the evening.

A wonderful night of ci**rs, whisky and conversations flowed through the evening of Friday 6th March, as we welcomed the UK Aficionadas to host an event at James J. Fox. With the event coinciding with the UK Aficionadas first anniversary and International Women’s Day, we were delighted to welcome the ladies in their group and to industry guests who have supported them during the first year. An amazing group of women and men, all in support of appreciating and endorsing the women of the UK cigar industry.

It was a pleasure to have our director, Bogusha, St James’s Store Manager, Tazminah and eCommerece manager, Keira, join the evening, providing guests who don’t know them to meet three major influences to our business at James J. Fox. Thank you too all who were able to join us and make this a greatly memorable evening. Thank you to Isabel Alamo-Gomez for presenting guests The Dalmore and to Ken Silverio for presenting Casa Carrillo ci**rs We would also like to thank Her Excellency Rosa Hernandez de Grullon and Carlos Espaillat from the Dominican Republic Embassy to the UK for joining us

A special thank you to Yeni, Amy & Tuba for bringing the event to us. Keep going strong ladies and we look forward to next year…

The start of the Lunar New Year took place last week - happy new year to our friends across the world celebrating the Year of the Horse. Our Fine Cigar, Fine Wines pairing event coincided the Chinese New Year so we made our cigar pairing with the Oliva Serie V Double Robusto with three Chinese wines.

The Oliva Serie V blend is full-bodied, exhibiting plenty of earth and pepper on the palate. While not very complex in evolving, the cigar is consistent throughout, which enabled us to find the contrasting flavours between the cigar and wines. Our good friend and Tor Imports Brand Ambassador Alfonso Scherzi joined us to talk about Oliva.

On the evening, we started with the Silver Heights Bloom Pet Nat (sparkling) then onto the Canaan Winery Riesling (white) ending on the All of Me Red (red). The wines were supplied by our friends at Vinum Eurus, with founder Zhentian Xie joining us to introduce the wines to guests.

While China is not known for their wines on a mainstream level, these three wines offered a great insight into their production. 8% rice wine in the Bloom Pet Net added a little zest, which worked in complementing the start of the cigar as the contrast in flavours was quite evident. A unique grape varietal with origins in China – Shangri- La, Yunnan along the Tibetan footpaths to the Himalayas to be precise - is Rose Honey. The All of Me red has 10% Rose Honey blended with Cabinet Sauvignon giving a dense plum note along with a tea and leafy notes. This created a smooth balance with the fuller end of the cigar which exhibits strong pepper and earth notes.

Fine Cigar, Fine Wines
Thursday 19th February 2026 6:30pm

The week of our Fine Cigar, Fine Wines pairing event coincides with the start of Chinese New Year, with 2026 marking the Year of the Horse. Oliva’s Zodiac cigar release is still a few weeks away from UK availability, so we’ve instead decided to go with the much-revered Oliva Serie V Double Robusto.

The Oliva Serie V Double Robusto (5’’ x 54) is full and spicy with plenty of earth and pepper that intensify accordingly throughout the smoke. As intense and full-strength an Oliva you will find, but a consistent and well-balanced blend from one of Nicaragua’s most established brands.

On the evening, we will be pairing the cigar with three different wines produced in China. We will enjoy Silver Heights Bloom Pet Nat (sparkling), Canaan Riesling (white) All of Me Red (red)

The experts joining us will be Tor Imports’ Alfonso Scherzi to discuss the cigar and Zhentian Xie from Vinum Eurus Ltd to talk about the wines.

A week of anticipation finally came to fulfilment as we welcomed customers to be amongst the first people to sample the Punch Nectares No.50 (Exclusivo Irlanda) via the UK launch. As we’ve explained, the official launch to celebrate Ireland’s first regional Habanos cigar was in Dublin in June 2025, but this event was to celebrate the cigar being released to the United Kingdom.

The Punch Nectates No.50 will be exclusively available at James J. Fox for this week.

Once again joining us on the evening was Mr. Yiorgos Manesis, Managing Director from James J. Fox Dublin, and we were delighted to welcome our Managing Director Mr. Robert Fox on the evening. Rob introduced the cigar, Yiorgos spoke about the whiskey, with our guest Mr. Jose A. Cejas, corporate director at Hunters & Frankau, speaking eloquently and proudly about the production overseen by Habanos S.A to create this cigar.

It was evident the Punch Nectares No.50 was received with everybody’s approval - both before lighting and after finishing the cigar. Before, because of the exclusivity in acknowledging Ireland’s cigar community with a regional edition, and after because it’s excellence in taste and construction, true to the Punch profile. The three James J. Fox whiskies on the evening were the single grain, single malt & pot still, all exclusively available at James J. Fox

We would like to thank guest in attendance for joining us for another exclusive cigar event at 19 St James’s Street.

We were delighted to share an evening with local friends from the cigar industry, drinks industry, hospitality and the St James’s area for a UK pre- launch sampling of the Habanos S.A. Punch Nectares No.50 (Exclusivo Irlanda). On a wonderful evening for the rare occasion where all of us are under the same roof for a cigar tasting, we were delighted our friends could come to enjoy and celebrate this launch with us.

Thank you to Mr. Yiorgos Manesis for providing us in London an opportunity to pair with James J. Fox Dublin whiskey as well as giving the room an insight into the history of the Nectares and the whiskies. Also, a thank you to our St James’s friends at Berry Bros. & Rudd for joining us with their own label bottlings of Blanc de Blancs Champagne and Cognac, and to Mr. Richard Weiss of Saint Jacques Restaurant for the canapes. And finally a special thank to our Chairman Mr Stuart Fox for coming over to join us on the evening.

The Punch Néctares holds a distinguished place in Irish cigar history. Until being discontinued in the 1980s, the Néctares were a línea of ci**rs within the Punch brand, made exclusively for James J. Fox in Dublin and London. Their popularity was such that, even years after production had ceased, they remained one of the most coveted and sought after ci**rs in Ireland.

As an Irish Regional Edition, the Punch Néctares No.50 officially debuted in Dublin on 22nd June 2025, at a party hosted by Ampersand (Ireland’s Habanos distributor) and Hunters & Frankau.

At the launch, Rob Fox, Managing Director of Ampersand and Director of James J. Fox said:

The Punch Néctares No. 50 is a landmark release in cigar history — the first-ever Habanos Regional Edition created exclusively for the Irish market. We are pleased to announce this release, which has been exclusive to only Ireland for the last six months, will become available in the United Kingdom from February, and it starts with us at James J. Fox on St James’s.

On Thursday 5th February 2026 we will host a UK launch event for the Néctares No.50 at our flagship on St James’s Street. To celebrate this cigar, we will be pairing with exclusive James J. Fox whisky from Dublin – Pot Still, Single Malt & Single Grain.

We will be joined by Rob Fox and Yiorgos Manesis from Dublin to talk to guests, with both gentleman instrumental in the production of both the cigar and whisky. This is sure to be a wonderful evening on St James’s with another industry exclusive event taking place at the Great British Cigar Merchants.
