Spring, you were good to us!

Some highlights: We kept our dear friend Kevin of Hemel-en-Aarde on the move with tastings and lunches across the country, pictured here was an exceptional lunch . There were visits from France; Romain from and Marilou of who made a mad-dash trip to London for Rhone Roots. We held our first (hoping to be annual!) Bancroft team Boules tournament while Hannah (Marketing) had too much fun visiting with . London Sales stayed busy: Daniel and Olga took in the scenes (and the pints) on Brighton Promenade between customer visits. Louisa hosted a tasting with , and Jose, of was in his element with Ann, and Lola of Alvaro Palacios stopped in to visit the team . We grabbed impromptu rooftop drinks post-work and last but far from least, our very own Lenka (Brand Management) and Nani (Nationals) cooked up a storm, providing an incredible Greek + Georgian lunch for the team at our offices. 🥂👌🏽

🇸🇮 Wonderful hospitality in Slovenia courtesy of Aleks, Jakob and Jura Simčič. Our colleagues Lenka and Anne got to experience the beautiful region of Goriška Brda, close to the border with Italy, sandwiched between the Julian alps and the Mediterranean sea.

🌿The Simčič vineyards are farmed organically (certification as of 2025) to encourage biodiversity, cover crops are simply rolled and the soil under vine lightly aerated to give it oxygen. This is all done by hand, without machinery, to avoid soil compaction. The main grapes grown here are Rebula, Friuliano, Chardonnay, Malvasija and Sauvignon Blanc, and Bordeaux varieties for the reds.

🍷 What struck us most was the synergy between the family members and their respect for each other and their family estate. They are proud and confident in their style, their vision and the age-ability of their wines. We got to try a wonderful bottle of 1999 Duet which was incredible and with another 10 years ahead of it.

Welcoming South Africa’s RAAR Wines to the Bancroft Wines Portfolio! 🎉🍷

RAAR is a boutique winery based in the Swartland, one of South Africa’s most dynamic wine regions. True to its name—meaning “rare” or “scarce”—RAAR represents a spirit of innovation and exploration, focusing on lesser-known varietals and unconventional techniques.

Under the direction of winemaker Sheree Nothnagel, the range showcases skin-contact whites, carbonic maceration, and minimal intervention winemaking, resulting in distinctive, expressive wines with real personality.

So fun to catch up with Lola Palacios this week. Lola is the daughter of Alvaro and 6th generation of the Palacios family. Lola joined the family winery two years ago and is now in charge of the top wines from Alfaro in Rioja Oriental, no mean feat! We had a great day touring some fine London establishments together.

Mas Amiel has built a reputation as an exceptional estate, where generations have created captivating wines that express the full potential of the terroir.

Mas Amiel is distinguished by its great sweet wines; refined and floral in style, these wines pay homage to the typicity of local varieties. There is a memorable, iconic fleshiness and minerality to these wines. The range reflects the terroir, the terroir is imprinted on the range.

The estate is recognised by ‘Le Parc à Bonbonnes’; the 60 litre glass bottles carefully positioned across on the estate’s beautiful land. The wine spends a year in bottles, exposed to the open air and climatic variations so that they can evolve to have concentration and complexity. Following this time under the sun and stars, the wines are transferred to the cellar where they are further aged in large oak barrels, standing 10 meters high. The ageing process will continue until the wines are deemed ready. These wines consistently receive excellent critics scores. DM us for details on our pre-shipment offer!

and will be joining us at today!

Marta Ramas and Miguel Angel Alonso are responsible for both properties. They are immensely talented and their wines are oozing with age-worthy complexity and elegance.

Fuentes del Silencio grows native varieties in very carefully dictated plots. With pre-phylloxera vines, this small team is working to bring the essence of the territory back to life and ensure that each of their small plots reaches their highest potential, while implementing environmentally-friendly winemaking practices and placing importance on the use of traditional methods.

Bodega Valdaya only makes two wines, for which the fruit comes from a selection of 100% Tempranillo grown on old bush vines vinified in separate parcels using indigenous yeasts. Maceration continues for 28 days in barrel before the free-run wine of each parcel passes into a selection of new barrels according to their potential for ageing - 90% French oak, 10% Hungarian oak, 6 different coopers.

Check your inbox for details about Clos du Caillou’s 2022 vintage! Clos du Caillou is producing some of the finest wines in the whole of the Rhône valley. Le Clos du Caillou benefits from an exceptional terroir which varies from sandy soils to the famous `galets roulés`. The estate has been practicing biodynamic viticulture since 2003 and was certified organic in 2010. Remarkably the original property was excluded from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the 1930s as the owners refused to allow their land to be surveyed. As a result, the vines inside the Clos were classified as Côtes-du-Rhône Villages though the terroir is identical to the adjacent vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines continue to impress year on year as they continue to make exceptionally well-balanced wines with their signature, velvety tannins.

🍷The 2019 Anaparenna by Ben Glaetzer (Glaetzer Wines) is a seamless fusion of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Voluptuous, opulent and yet refined, with a very long and satisfying finish. The name, Anaperenna, has been inspired by Anna Perenna, the Roman goddess of the New Year. She symbolises the year's cycle and her name translates as 'enduring year'. Romans honoured Anna Perenna with a festival held on the first full moon of the Roman calendar.

🍃2019 was a warm, dry vintage in the Barossa Valley which, as Ben explains, suits their vineyards. The vintage stands out for high quality reds with notable focus; layers of concentrated fruit are matched to savoury, polished tannins and freshness on the finish. '2019 produced wines which will cellar beautifully for many years', comments Ben, adding, 'but more importantly they are very approachable and very generous when they are young. They show a true snapshot of the Ebenezer and the Barossa Valley vintage.'
