What a lovely evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our first collaboration with Theatre of Wine. Great wines, delicious cheese, plenty of conversation and a chance to browse the shop after hours.

Let’s have a party, a neighbourhood party.

Hortus, a much loved fixture of Blackheath, opened in the same year as Theatre of Wine, in 2002!

With the arrival of the new store, we have come full circle, and become neighbours. What better way to celebrate than to throw a party?

Hosted in the showroom and garden of their beautifully curated shop at 26 Blackheath Village, just two doors down from us, we will be offering a tasting of fab summer rosés as you enjoy mingling, and browsing a beautiful selection of plants, homewares and garden pieces. Join us for an immersive night of fine art and fabulous wines: June 24th, 7pm at Green Gallery, Lee Road.

When art and wine meet it is pure chemistry, bringing culture, creativity and the aesthetic together. Tonight marks our first collaboration with our local art community at Green Gallery on Lee Road.

We are delighted to join gallerist Sarah McHarrie and artist George Percy for a special evening where guests will have the opportunity to hear the artist speak about his work and influences while enjoying a curated wine tasting hosted by Tom. We hope to see you there!

George Percy studied at St Albans School of Art before receiving a scholarship to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.

Working primarily in oil paint, his richly layered paintings draw inspiration from gardens, abstraction and the enduring traditions of European painting, with influences ranging from Velázquez and Titian to Cézanne.

His fascination with gardens began with work inspired by a garden in Spain, later evolving through ideas drawn from his own garden in Blackheath and the formal landscapes of Blenheim Palace — themes that continue to resonate throughout his work today.

George has exhibited widely, including at the Whitechapel Gallery and Serpentine Gallery, and his work is held in the Arts Council Collection and also private collections in Britain and abroad.
